To ask you to snap me out of it- missed out on dream house!

Long story short dream home came up. Viewed it fell head over heels. At that point ours wasn’t even on the market so although we made an offer obviously it was declined. House now on my market and viewings lined up but it’s gone. I’m heartbroken. Not found any others similar or as nice for the price. I don’t have it in me to attempt to gazump or anything as I think it’s cruel and they got it fair and square. How do I move on?? Any stories of missing the dream house then finding something else?

There are always dream houses just above your top price. That’s why they are dream houses.

Why did you view it when yours wasn’t even on the market? You’re setting yourself up for disappointment and wasting the vendor’s time because you’re not proceedable.

You will find something you like, these things always work out in the end.

Just before I put my house on the market I found my dream home but I wouldn’t go and view until mine was on the market as I knew I would love it and then would be upset if I lost it.

As soon as mine went on the market I rang the estate agents and told them I had an offer (little white lie) and could I view my dream house, they said no, there’s been an offer accepted, so there’s no more viewings, I was absolutely gutted.

I couldn’t find anything else I loved as much so a week later I put a note through the door of dream home telling them my situation and if anything happened with their current sale would they please let me know. A week later they rang me and said the sale with their buyer had fallen through and did I want to view it, I viewed the night after, offered full asking price and now it’s all going through! Don’t lose hope and maybe put a note through with all your details just in case, fingers crossed for you.

@MrsTWH I know it’s my own fault. We had had the pictures taken etc but it wasn’t online yet.

My story is similar too @2me2u2u2me once ours was was up for sale we tried to view only to be told it was sold. I asked the estate agent to let us know if anything changed and 2 weeks later we got a call asking if we were still interested as the sale had fallen through!

Don't think of it as your dream house - for all you know, you might have moved in and found out its haunted/subsiding/got hit by a bus on the way to pick up the keys, etc.

I don't truly believe in "what's for you won't go by you" but sometimes it's useful to think that way. Basically, if you're alive and fine, don't wish for things to have worked out differently.

Happened to us, the dream house came bk on the market...

We missed out on our dream house earlier this year - it went to sealed bids and we didn't win. A month later, it came back on the market and this time we got it! We were overjoyed, of course.

Several months later, it's just fallen through due to shitty legal issues. We've wasted months and ££ on it, and will probably now miss the stamp duty holiday even if we do find anywhere else we like (which we haven't yet).

Missing out on your dream house could actually be a bullet dodged. I'm SO fed up of all things houses now. I know it will come right in the end, as will yours, its just fucking annoying.

I'm hoping that posting this will make our luck change, that's the state I'm in!

There will be another dream house, it wasn't meant to be.

We’ve done that and it worked out fine. Got our house under offer in ten days.

Sometimes it does work out that way and sometimes people only want to move if a very few houses come up for sale.

I stalked a house (tiny estate with elderly people so often up for sale) for 18 months while saving for a deposit, by the time I had the deposit the price had risen too high for us
I was gutted.
But we bought a house a few months later and now I'm very happy where we are.
We have lovely neighbours too which makes all the difference. Comfort yourself with the thought the neighbours are probably a nightmare Grin

26 years ago we found our dream house. We weren't even looking to move. It needed work but was in our price range. Ours wasn't even on the market but we quickly got it on. We had a few viewings then the week before Christmas the estate agent called to say the dream house had been sold. Someone who viewed our house had bought a different house and those people had bought the one we wanted.

We carried on looking but couldn't see anything we liked. We were about to take ours off the market when the estate agent called to say the buyers had pulled out because the husband had been made redundant. Their buyer had put in an offer on our house and we put in an offer on the one we wanted which was accepted.

We've lived here for over 25 years now and STILL haven't done everything we planned, but we had two more children and it has been a lovely family home.

If it's meant to be yours you'll get it!
