What is it you want to know?

WorraLiberty · 23/10/2020 16:28

Yes, you need to say what you want to find out and perhaps someone can help?

Hi sorry I'm on legacy benefits, 2 children. Confused about what counts as income and takes away?

Gingerbread website for single parents has a lot of info, but as you said, it seems a minefield. It depends on benefits already being received, whether you have kids, your age etc etc. Part time study seems to be the way to go to not crucify you benefit wise. Lots & lots of links there. HTH. If you go on Gov.uk study loans that don't have to be paid til you're earning £25k are available. But they count as income re your benefits. I think financial bursaries some places give for students also count as income. If you're on benefits & it's an evening course at your local college like an NVQ or vocational qualification , (so not a degree or post grad )it's free to study.
