Hi all,
I'm not sure if I'm being pfb and 'that' parent or if I'm justified in being unhappy about this.
My dd is just gone 7. She does have social and emotional difficulties so this could also be swaying me. Although a plus point is she is very sensible and cautious.
Parents are not allowed on school grounds due to covid. Dds year drop off is at the front of school. School is completely open. We live in the countryside.
Drop off is now at the gate, it's not a gate really but a low wall will a gap.
Children then have to walk down a path at the side of the car park and wait at the entrance which is not a playground but just a stone flagged area outside the office leading to the car park. Again this is all open, behind and at the sides of this area is big fields then cliffs.
A plus point is that our children are used to this terrain (hills and cliffs) as I say we live in the countryside.
Anyway the deal was parents drop and go and staff would then supervise the path (because its next to a main road and car park) and enterence and open the door.
For the last few days I have seen parents drop off 10 minutes or so early and no one supervising the children in the entrance area or path. I waited till after going in time to see if its because parents were early so not the schools fault but no one came out. It was 5 minutes after their start time when eventually a teacher opened the door.
If parents are leaving children early surly the school should address this anyway because they are then alone on school grounds.
I have no idea why no one was there at start time though and I felt uneasy.
Its 63 kids running round an open area unsupervised.
My dd is partially sighted and struggles with spacial awareness and struggles to see in certain lights so I feel maybe I'm being ott with worrying about this because of her difficulties.
But then all the kids are only 7. Surly they need to be supervised and school should be addressing this.
I will add the area is surrounded by trees too so difficult to see from the window etc.
Aibu. Would you be OK with this.
Would you leave your dc unsupervised in this way for 10-15 minutes.
Not sure if I should bring it up with school.
