is this two tier benefits system acceptable?

Am I being unreasonable for resenting the latest COVID financial package.

Why are people so happy to have a two tier benefits system? So many jobs will not survive the pandemic. The situation has just jump started WFH and online shopping that will fundamentally affect city centres. It was already declining with retailers and restaurants closing pre COVID, never mind now. So many people were made redundant and had to go on Universal credit. Where is the clamour for them to be given 65-80% of their previous earnings?

As has been happening when furlough was previously due to end, so many employers made their staff redundant finding they were getting the work done with a lot fewer staff or using the opportunity to close the business entirely and start again.

Is this the new norm, that businesses are happy to make huge amounts of profit, but when it comes to losses, the government is now expected to take the strain?

But then again the government has been doing so for years by allowing employers to pay a pittance to workers knowing that it is not enough to live on and has to be topped up with benefits.

But now we have two types of people not working, but some are much more generously treated than others. Why?

Why is it acceptable for them to

Oops no responses. 😔. So the two tier system must be the new norm. ☹️
