@LangClegsInSpace

We will probably get another national lockdown at some point but it will be far too late and there won't be any particular aims. Because the government is incompetent.

By national I'm going to assume you mean England?

No, I don't know why but they won't do it again, I mean, I do know why, but cases are rising alarmingly where I am. I would have thought a few weeks would have helped to quell it.

I would have thought mini lock downs where cases are high would be less stressful than this wondering and waiting etc.

Little hurdles to get over.. Until the next one and so on until spring.

Changethetoner · 20/10/2020 23:14

no, because half term holidays are in different weeks in different parts of the UK. Some have already had it, some are on it, and some are yet to start. Hardly consistent with anything "national".

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/10/2020 23:16

Mini lock downs yes. Not national. No point

I’m south east as others are on thread and we are low

Plus no way the budget can pay for it all again. Think heard on news that Manchester got 22 million financial help but wants 36 millions

If all counties did that then really would be no money in the pot

crankysaurus · 20/10/2020 23:23

No, I think they've left it too late to announce that for half term in England, those of us in T2 will just go up to T3 quicker (think that's inevitable, more about when not if).

goisey · 20/10/2020 23:26

I'm really hoping not, my last chance to catch up with family and friends before Covid comes south I reason

user127819 · 20/10/2020 23:31

Not for half term but I think it's a possibility at some point, if the tier system doesn't work. At today's press briefing they definitely seemed to be steering away from talk of national measures at the moment while not ruling them out completely.

HedWrek · 20/10/2020 23:43

It seems less likely now - at least in the very near future - at the press conference today JVT said a short circuit breaker /lockdown would have been more effective if they had done it three weeks ago when cases were lower and he thinks more localised plans make more sense at this stage.

Springcatkin · 20/10/2020 23:46

Not expressly. Although I do think that at some point everywhere in England will be at tier 3 so effectively a national lockdown

AlwaysLatte · 20/10/2020 23:59

I hope so!
