Person A: I can make an appointment tonight or Thursday after 5 if that would work
Person B: Tonight at 5
Person A: Thanks

What would you take is the outcome?

That am appointment has been booked for today at 5pm

PrincessSarene · 20/10/2020 17:34

Person A has an appointment with Person B for 5pm tonight?

LoseLooseLucy · 20/10/2020 17:35

For today at 5pm. What else could it be?

Red2017 · 20/10/2020 17:35

That person A has an appointment today at 5

PurpleDaisies · 20/10/2020 17:35

I’m guessing person b hasn’t turned up and you’re pissed off.

littledrummergirl · 20/10/2020 17:36

What they said... Grin

MiddleClassProblem · 20/10/2020 17:37

Tonight at 5 but possibly a little bit late as A days after 5

FairFridaythe13th · 20/10/2020 17:37

What didn’t happen then?

Heygirlheyboy · 20/10/2020 17:37

The appointment... A didn't show!!!

OP posts:
ABCDay · 20/10/2020 17:38

Person B wants an appointment at 5pm today although no time was specified in today's appointment offerings and Person A is happy with this as they thanked Person B.

Why do you ask, OP?

ABCDay · 20/10/2020 17:39

Cross post. What a dick Angry

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/10/2020 17:40

I wouldn’t have taken that as confirmed.

ThePlantsitter · 20/10/2020 17:41

Person B sounds annoyingly terse. And should have attended an appointment at 5 tonight.

MiddleClassProblem · 20/10/2020 18:05

Maybe they just misread it? I have done that before. Even if it clearly says today my brain can assume Thursday.

Have you messaged to see where they are or to say about them missing it?

WishingOnACarrot · 20/10/2020 18:13

Sounds like they've typed tonight at 5pm instead of Thursday at 5pm. I'd be prepared for them to arrive at Thursday now - what a pain.

ARoseInHarlem · 20/10/2020 18:19

Yes, I think Person A was suggesting an appointment tonight (at some time to be agreed still) or on Thursday after 5pm.

Tonight at 5pm doesn't sound like anything that was ever on offer!

malmi · 20/10/2020 18:26

"Tonight" was offered.
Tonight at 5 was suggested.

That was accepted with "Thanks"

Heygirlheyboy · 20/10/2020 18:58

Yes they meant Thursday.. Very apologetic tbf, I waited 45 mins Sad

I would think that neither of them had read the other one’s message properly.
Person A never said they were available at 5pm today. Their message clearly said tonight (5pm is not ‘night’, it’s the afternoon). Then Person B who had misread their message offered 5pm today and a Person A then misread that and said ‘thanks’.

I agree. 5pm is not (or was not) tonight. Although as they didn't continue the conversation to arrange for Thursday, I can see why you might be annoyed.
