Aibu to ask where I should meet visitor

I have a family member coming from overseas at the weekend. They are travelling from a country not on the quarantine list.
However they are stopping “up North” first (I don’t exactly know where) and then coming down to London to stay in a hotel.

I thought we could meet in a restaurant but now realise that’s not allowed. Nor is them coming to my home (and to be honest I don’t really want them to come here - it’s hassle).

But where on earth should I suggest? It’s going to be tipping down with rain as far as I know.

Does anyone have any ideas?

What is confusing? Not wanting to debate the rules themselves. But they are set out very clearly. I don’t even understand why you needed to read them ten times.

It looks as though I was reading the tier 3 rules
And even the government finds the rules confusing (and thinks Sunderland is over on the West Coast)

The guidance on the GOV.UK website says that you can’t meet people indoors if you live in a Tier 2 area, so you can’t just go outside the area and meet them indoors (or not without breaking the rules anyway).

@Florencex literally read what you’ve just sent - no explanation of whether a pub garden counts as an outdoor setting. No advice on whether can travel outside of tier 2 zone to be indoors (am on a border). It is confusing.

Am not debating the rules - am just working out where to meet someone and stay within them.
