Just that really. Your thoughts?

To be tempted to buy these?

I bought some tops and shoes on there a few years back then forgot all about it until I saw it mentioned on another thread this eve.

I thought I'd have a browse and then stumbled across those shoes. I admit they're incredibly garish and probably quite ugly to some but I'm a bit quirky and love all things bright.

Like a PP mentioned they're not too dissimilar to trainers that are in fashion at the moment and cost a bomb in places like footlocker and JD :)

Theyre in my basket too op along with lots of other things haha. I dont know whether to thank you or curse you 🤣🙈

T33l9 · 19/10/2020 21:28

Aww I'm glad somebody else saw the beauty in them! Grin

I've already checked out, now I'm kicking myself because I've since seen other things I like and if I were to buy them i'd need to pay packaging again grrrrr.

For £5 you can't really go wrong can you? Either you'll live them & wear them
Loads or you'll hate them & donate them
To charity. Win/win really.

3rd time today ive read about that site on here. I must go take a look....

T33l9 · 19/10/2020 21:38

It's definitely worth a look, you'll be pleasantly surprised!

I've been looking through the dresses and many wouldn't look out of place in up market catalogues.

You would never know to look at them how cheap they are.

They certainly wouldn't have cost £5 initially, and all brand new.

Wroxie · 19/10/2020 21:47

At first I wanted to lecture everyone about buying cheap sub-primark landfill fodder made by people who are exploited at best or actually enslaved at worst... it's kind of my specialist subject... but if this £5 website is actually selling overstock, last season, or factory seconds, that's amazing! Does anyone know for sure?

(Obviously the best option is to shop your own wardrobe, mend what you have, and swap within your community... sorry couldn't resist).

T33l9 · 19/10/2020 21:53

@Wroxie

Yep it is all ethically sourced from other retailers.

The items available are sourced from mid-range fashion retailers like Topshop, Asos and Zara, usually from the past season.

OP posts:
Newnamenewopenme · 19/10/2020 21:57

I like them but have found the website poor quality in the past!

T33l9 · 19/10/2020 21:57

I say all.. that's what I got from doing my own research. I may be wrong. Hopefully not.

OP posts:
FlippinNoah · 19/10/2020 21:58

Good on you for getting them!

I really wanted those white trainers with colourful lights all around the bottom but talked myself out of it because I'm 46. I would have rocked those badboys...

T33l9 · 19/10/2020 22:03

That's a shame, newname. I've had good luck with what I bought on the site. A lovely pair of boots a few years ago that I still have now and still look as good as new.

You should get some, FlippinNoah. Life is too short to care what people think Wink

I'll be rocking these on my nursery runs with no shame Grin

OP posts:
Thurmanmurman · 19/10/2020 22:07

If you're trendy you could pull them off and look great. I'd look bloody ludicrous in them.

T33l9 · 19/10/2020 22:09

I'm not sure that I'm trendy, I don't usually follow trends very well the cycling shorts fad was lost on me but I like unusual things and I think we can all agree that they are that Grin

T33l9 · 19/10/2020 22:09

I'll post a photo when they come!

Phoenix76 · 19/10/2020 22:12

I love them op and I’m 44, I’d totally wear them. Life’s far too short to comply with what we “ should” wear, what we should do is enjoy ourselves when we can and these trainers are in the “can” section. Fuck it, I may get some myself........

Tunnocks34 · 19/10/2020 22:14

Love them.

I love chunky, colourful trainers. I’ve got so many pairs of Nike Air pods in various colours!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 19/10/2020 22:18

I think they’ll make you happy every time you wear them!

pinkstripeycat · 19/10/2020 22:21

I grew up in the 80s and never saw these so definitely not 80s retro.

T33l9 · 19/10/2020 22:43

They definitely give me 80s retro vibes. I don't care if they were made in 2020 Grin

www.google.com/amp/s/www.marieclaire.co.uk/news/fashion-news/these-are-the-most-valuable-trainers-you-can-own-661660/amp

I've just been looking at outlandish shoes and this pair that isn't a million miles away from the ones I've bought - are supposedly worth almost 4k now.

I wouldn't pay that much for shoes even if they were diamond studded, but it just shows the vast price difference for not too dissimilar styles of footwear/clothing!

OP posts:
Kanaloa · 19/10/2020 22:50

They're quite cool in their own way. Don't think they would suit me, but I would think someone wearing them was cool and had their own unusual style.

StormzyinaTCup · 19/10/2020 23:26

Just popped on there for a nosey around and they even have a 'Sale' page with up 80% off 😮😀 - presumably they are actually making a profit?

Glad you got the trainers OP, I had an epiphany in my early 40's where I suddenly stopped giving a monkies what people thought so yes, I would wear them😊. Hope they make you smile and put a spring in your step.

AlwaysLatte · 19/10/2020 23:27

I would have thought the person trying to sell them would be delighted if you did.

T33l9 · 19/10/2020 23:34

Aww thanks ladies!

I expected a classic AIBU roasting but you're very kind!

I wouldn't have worn them 10 years ago not because my style is any different but because i'd have felt embarrassed by people taking the piss - which they would have done where I grew up, very small minded folk. I'm a Londoner nowadays and nobody gives a toss what you wear here. I feel so at home when I go to Camden Grin

It's only yourself you have to please when it comes to clothes really Smile

I had a browse on the %80 off section earlier, impressive isn't it! I saw a pair of pumps I liked for a shocking £1.50 but they only had them in a size 3 Sad

TheRealJeanLouise · 20/10/2020 09:04

Are you the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air?

What’s wrong with The Fresh Prince. Aren’t you aware that late 80s/90 hip hop was the. Oiler’s of the cool? It was The Ratpack of the time.

These trainers are definitely modelled on an 80s/90s retro style which seems to have made a huge comeback this year. I also grew up on the 80s and 90s and begged for a pair of Nike Jordan’s.... I never got them.

Really interesting about the ethics of everythingfor5pounds OP. I’d been avoiding it too but may we’ll start having a look into it now.

T33l9 · 23/10/2020 13:28

They're here and I love them Grin

The insoles are memory foam too so super comfy!
