Is this typical behaviour for a 7 year old? Constant singing, shouting, noise

My wonderful dd has also been quite loud and outgoing not surprising given the rest of the family.
However I’ve noticed she constantly noisy at home singing opera style especially like a ongoing narration of her life. If she’s not singing she’s shouting or making noises.
Dh thinks it’s typical behaviour of a drama loving girl I’m not sure. She can be quite obviously at school so is it just release when she’s at home all the noise comes out..she will literally be singing to sleep.
The singing is actually quite nice the shouting is grating. Does dd need more attention maybe?

My nearly 7 yo is the same, tone deaf but very loud! I feel your pain

Not just here then it’s from morning to bedtime 🎶

Speaking as a teacher, yeah it's quite normal.

But as you say, more attention in terms of re-direction might help.

Yep. DS (8) makes constant noise. Singing, weird mouth noises, just noise. DD was different but used to give a running commentary of her every thought.

parrotonmyshoulder · 19/10/2020 17:08

Both very quiet at school!

8yo DS2 is still very much like this! He's got a bit better at not narrating every single thought that enters his head all day long, but has to be reminded at times. He sings himself to sleep often too.

Dd is like this. We invested in singing lessons so at least she could be in tune. She joined the choir at school, too

Mine was the same, not so much shouting but singing a lot and chatting, being generally iively and OTT. Until puberty was looming, then he became cool, monosyllabic and laid back. He is now a professional musician and singer. Yours may have a great future, who knows?

The 8 year old next door sings very high pitched every day. From the time she gets up till going to bed. It's not so bad when she's in school as I can't hear her then. She makes songs up, it can be a full hour of singing about their cats or about the poo she's done, she even sings for food. Her 6 year old sister plays the tin whistle, I do check for bleeding from my ears when they're at it at the same time.

SnakesOrLadders · 19/10/2020 17:22

Poo songs are a go to in our house too 💩

Ah this sounds exactly like my twin 7 year old DD's, it's constant! Love them to pieces but it can be grating at times.

Codexdivinchi · 19/10/2020 17:44

Unfortunately yes. My 7 year old doesn’t stop for breath.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 19/10/2020 17:45

I think that’s normal at seven. My autistic son who is nine does it and has a very pitched voice. It’s constant

Shastabeast · 19/10/2020 19:26

My eldest is similar. She has ADHD so I presume it’s about creating sensory input for her. She always sung and is actually pretty good now. She goes to Drama classes which are open surprisingly. The classes don’t make her better but offer an outlet for a noisy, wriggly kid.

Yep, mine keeps shouting instead of talking, it's driving me mad. Excellent behaviour at school and v academic. Also very dramatic and in song where possible!
