Words and phrases that you can't stand...

What words and phrases irrationally (or rationally!) annoy you.

Mine are:
'Doggo' - DP uses this all the time, why make the word 'dog' longer
'No is a complete sentence' - just sounds so dismissive and I doubt anyone IRL would talk like this
'That doesnt work for us' - just sounds rude
'Little man' to describe a boy
'Hubby' - this is irrational as loads of people say this
'Boils my piss' - conjours horrible images in my head Grin
'Move on' when talking about a bad situation - yeah, because the person with the problem really hasn't thought about that Hmm...
'It is what it is' - one if those phrases that seemed to spawn from Love Island, I dont know why I hate it.

Any more?

Apologies in advance but this is a Daily Mail one :

When a female (model, actress, A Lister , Z Lister ) is out and about in a low cut top , she is described as " Putting on a busty display"

I suppose they couldn;t really say " Marigold is wafting about Kensington High Street with her baps out " though

Sourced . As in 'Jemima and Xavier Benson Hopwood sourced many of their artisanally created objets whilst on their travels around the Goan peninsula '. No , you bought shitloads of tourist tat like everyone else . Likewise 'curated ' ......

Bane of every interior magazine I buy lately Hmm

VioletCharlotte · 18/10/2020 19:24

I hate 'cute'. It's fine if you're talking about a baby or a puppy, but I keep hearing 'cute bag', 'cute skirt', etc. A friend said it today about an event we we were looking at 'That's so cute'. No it's not! It looks fun/ interesting, but not cute! It makes me cringe.

YY to curated - you do not have a curated ear, you have some piercings with little earrings in.

30yearoldpensioner · 18/10/2020 19:32

'if that makes sense' drives me up the wall

CruCru · 18/10/2020 19:33

I hate "I despair". The person who has written it has never experienced despair.

I also hate "Stay safe". It's a new one I know but my mother would say to "be careful" when I was doing perfectly ordinary things that were in no way dangerous (like getting a train to another city).

Abouttimemum · 18/10/2020 19:34

Forever home
Little man
Little fella
Princess (my bro in law does this on Facebook about his daughters ALL the fucking time)

Give you a heads up

Gitfeatures · 18/10/2020 19:38

"Get to fuck" - only ever seen this on mumsnet. Doesn't make any sense.

"The power of facebook" - usually used in response to reuniting someone with lost property which would have found its owner far sooner had the person finding it actually handed it in where they found it.

AryaStarkWolf · 18/10/2020 19:38

I hate Doggo too OP and also Pupper. Poorly annoys me and Problematic ( thats only started annoying me recently because its being used to police people's opinions way too much

Wishimaywishimight · 18/10/2020 19:38

I love the bones of... Such a fucking stupid saying.
I like that one. Sad

OH another one only found on mumsnet.

Did you know this before you had children OP ? And fake questions you know the answer to ie that recent one with posters claiming ignorance in order to be superior.

Chickychickydodah · 18/10/2020 19:43

When people say “Like “ every other Word when when speaking a sentence 😡
