Chilli timing?

Today is DS ‘s 5th birthday. I was up till midnight making a cake etc and up at 6 this morning for excitement... so might not be being fair... We are in tier 1 so we have a couple of friends coming this afternoon for a play date. I am also supposed to be making roast lunch...

DH likes to grow chillis. He harvested about 1 kg of some of the hottest kinds about 1 week ago. They have been sitting around the kitchen since. I mentioned yesterday that they need dealing with soon.

DH has decided to chop them all this morning and dry them on trays in the oven. The house stinks, I can’t bear to be in the kitchen ( open plan and location if this afternoons play date) as the chilli smell is triggering a migraine.

DH cannot do anything while chopping chillis ‘in case he gets chilli hands on things’ so DS has been getting me out of the shower to sort help with new toys etc.

DH has lots of history or choosing inappropriate moments to do stuff.

AIBU to be livid?

It's only 10am, open some windows and the smell will hopefully go away. There should still be plenty of time to make a roast.

I would find that really irritating

My H decided to fry fish with all the interior doors open on the same day we had a viewing on our house that was up for sale. Angry

You told him they needed dealing with soon, and he appears to be meeting the demand of soon.

If chili's are so bad for you, I think agreeing not to grow them would be the right approach, it's a bit late to complain now.

DH is WFH. He has a whole week when he could stink the house out and monopolise the oven when we are all out!

I think it's a good rule that on days you have people coming over, its not a good idea to do a project or jobs which aren't related to the visit....it is just a pain.
