To think that many people's sense of entitlement has gone mad?

I regularly come across or hear people assume that they are entitled to 'stuff.'

Be it a job that ticks all the boxes, parents helping out (financially at first, or with kids later, etc), government help if they smoke/drink all their lives and need treatment for a related illness.

AIBU to think that more than ever before people are not taking responsibility for their actions/decisions/choices?

So what's self inflicted?

Infected piercings?
Badly maintained teeth?
DIY accidents?
All hobby related accidents?

Personal responsibility was abolished in about 1998 or 1999. One of the legacies of the Blair years. Entltlement and unrealistic expectations is a step beyond that.

@gypsywater

Do you not realise how much tax is generated from cigarette sales?! Its off the scale!
Are you suggesting that we encourage smoking as a revenue generator?

Sorry OP your your post is ridiculous, who exactly are you trying to bash? I'm a child of Boomers, a mother of Gen z and I am Gen x. My parents were incredibly hard working but didn't have the issues my children face. I am divorced and at one staged relied on tax credits. My children have had emergency operations both on the NHS and privately. I smoke and drink but have never had any medical issues connected to either. I now pay higher rate tax, I pay tax on my vices. What exactly should I not be entitled to?
