Please can you explain how to pronounce
Castell Cysgwr?
I have tried googling and can’t find anything useful.

@BrumBoo has it pretty close x as a Welsh learner that’s how I would say it - although I can’t quite make the ‘ll’ sound as perfect as someone who has spoken Welsh from birth

Yes @brumboo is correct. Cast - ell (welsh 'll' sound - arrange mouth as if saying 'l' but blow air out past sides of tongue, no vocal sound)
Cuss - goor (rolled 'r' as in brrrrrrr and oo sound is a little less elongated than in english)

I wouldn't make a 'th' sound for 'll' as the 'll' doesn't involve the tongue between the teeth and th is a sound of its own.

It's the best I can do for that almost silent, but not quite, hesitation that is so prevalent in Welsh.

I'm told I'll get my ear in eventually.

A 'sh' sound is closer. Try making a 'sh' then grinning as widely as possible whilst making the sound - that's pretty close!

Cas - tell (Welsh ll so place your tongue on the roof of your mouth and blow lightly when doing the ll. Kus - goor (touch the end of your tongue quickly behind your top front teeth after the r.)

To make the Ll sound, put your tongue in the same position as you would to say L in English, but press your tongue harder against the roof of your mouth then make a slight hissing sound.

I am also learning Welsh. I picked up some words from mum as a child and have been learning in recent months during lockdown as it was reassuring (and reminded me of her and my nain).

“Th” and “ll” are totally different sounds. Dont use “th”.
