Pushing in at bus stops!

Shuffling their way past you in the queue at the chemist (YES! you know who you were evil old woman!!)

Clogging up the aisle of supermarkets with their nattering!!

Stenching out the library with their 'old womans 'sheer tan' old tight smell!!

OP posts:
Mercy · 12/10/2007 20:50

ok, but there is no need to laugh at or about old peple being smelly or 'nattering'.

JoFan · 12/10/2007 20:53

do you have a family member with dementia, mercy?

serious question

southeastastra · 12/10/2007 20:58

there are so many old people about now, ours all congregate at tesco at 10 in the morning.

Mercy · 12/10/2007 20:59

No - at least not yet.

Jofan, I was talking to other posters really. I can understand the letting off steam situation.

But I found the OP decidely unfunny and not in that vein.

JoFan · 12/10/2007 21:02

i guess everyone deals with their own traumas in their own way

my way is humour

my sister is the same. she would roffle if i broke my arm falling over

must be in the genes

xXxamyxXx · 12/10/2007 21:03

mercy i was talking about the fact that i want to be like the granny from catherine tate not personally attacking anyone

TheEvilDediderata · 12/10/2007 21:04

Yes, I think the 'old tight smell' in the library was a bit uncalled for.

Maybe I live in a nice area, but the vast majority of elderly people here are extremely polite and engaging.

Those that aren't are mentally unwell ... as you might expect.

And for those that can't/don't say anything to rude people in general, then you're part of the problem. I don't think twice about reminding people of their manners.

DabblesInDarknessWithALightOn · 12/10/2007 21:19

grrr... ffs. really this thread was in all honesty because i got told off for 'picikng on' teenagers in the 'yoof of today thread'

also some old woman very rudely pushed infront of me in the chemist making me almost late to pick dd up from school

and also just for a laugh

fffsss, what is the world comign to when u cant take the piss out of people?

OP posts:
xXxamyxXx · 12/10/2007 21:23

shh dabbles dont you know you cant have a sense of humour or say anything about anyone they will tut tut at you!

vixma · 12/10/2007 21:30

I was in Brighton when an old person banged into me....he did ot appologise. This annoys me as my son who is 11 opens doors for others and sez please and thankyou, however adults do not acknowledge this and to be honest will tut him if he opens the fridge in Tescos for us to help us shopping and do not let them get there stuff first. GRRRRRRRRR, if kids are being polite they should get acknowleded. Kids are so easily slagged off, however if they do something wrong everyone knows about it. Old people can be very rude, which is a shame because they deserve our upmost respect. If they are rude for no reason, it is out of order to have ago at kids because they are just as bad.

And another thing...buses...
some old bint told a mate of mine she should move as she was sat in 'her' seat on the bus.
There were plenty of seats available but she wanted her one. And wouldnt move until she got it. My friend would not relinquish her seat, so old woman stood, swaying the whole journey sending my friend evil looks. Very hilarious.

TheEvilDediderata · 12/10/2007 21:36

I take the piss out of people all the time, dabbles. It's what I do best.

But in fairness, gal, you asked AM I BEING UNREASONABLE?

YABU. Don't set yourself up if you don't want to get knocked down

WeeWitchyWilkie · 12/10/2007 21:36

I can't wait to be old and rude as I like. It's their right. God Love Em and Dabble - thought your OP was v funny actually.

When I am old I will:

Go to the shops in my slippers
Hit young people with my stick and then pretend it was an accident
Ponder REALLY LOUDLY in the doctors waiting room and 'What is wrong with that person?' when new people walk through the door....

2shoescreepingthroughblood · 12/10/2007 21:39

YABU

unknownrebelbang · 12/10/2007 21:45

YABU.

Generally speaking, people are rude cos they're rude, not because they're old, young, blah blah.

Or maybe they're just having a bad day.

NappiesLaGore · 12/10/2007 21:58

i do tend to think that a rude young person becomes a rude older person with the passage of time. and likewise, a lovely person is lovely till they pop their clogs.

my beef is with (almost) all people (apart froma select few of course) and animals too. and definately wednesdays. all of them get in the way now and then, dont you find? i have an equal opportunities approach to my likes and dislikes

Lizzzombie · 12/10/2007 22:05

Wilkie - you are old. and you probably smell of wee in RL....(could be LO has peed on you though!)

WeeWitchyWilkie · 12/10/2007 22:07

Lizz - LO wee'd on my handbag today. My HANDBAG! FGS

Tinytears34 · 12/10/2007 22:10

If I get to a ripe old age of at least 60 then I will let rip and be as carefree as I can. In this day of being P.C. and watching everyting you say incase some eejit sue's you. At least old people have an excuse for it. Bring on the day when I smell of Lavender and talc and have my hair died a funny shade of blue.

moljam · 12/10/2007 22:11

yabu.a bit of a generalisation.im rude but not old.

and can i just say my mil is 79 and one of the loveliest women on earth.

Tinytears34 · 12/10/2007 22:12

I agree weewitchywilkey. Totally..

Lizzzombie · 12/10/2007 22:13

I'm sorry Wilkie - did you mean to write:

"LOL weed on my handbag"?

I can't wait to dye my hair different colours! My Gran used to have a different rinse each week, she was like a punk! Not enough old women have rinses these days.

There is an old man near me, who is a transvestite, and goes round on his mobility scooter dressed as an old woman. I know I shouldnt laugh, but its really funny! (he doesnt have a rinse either)

kimibobbingforapples · 12/10/2007 22:19

I hate it when people old/young whatever do not say thank you when you have held a door for them...I always say very loudly the word you're looking for is thank you.
There is an old lady near me who drives (and really should not) as she parks her car in the middle of the road and gets out to go to the local post office/shop or worse the salvation army as she is in there an hour and cars have to go to the other side of the road to get past her car.

But the one I thought took the cake was the stupid old person who parked their scooter thing outside boots ACROSS the doors, so no one with a pram could get in or out and people have to almost climb over this thing to get in and out of the shop, the person could not see what they had done wrong some folk should not be let out alone.

saggers · 12/10/2007 22:36

Why has noone mentioned old ladies' beards yet?
