to pull DS out of school?

DS (15) is in Year 10. His school just had a positive Covid result yesterday in Year 11. The school has told 50 students in Year 11 to isolate. The boy in Year 11 (who tested positive) hasn't been in school since last Wednesday due to symptoms (so it must've taken them AGES to get a test). The positive boy has a boyfriend in Year 10 and was kissing him last Wednesday. The boyfriend is in DS's class. He hasn't been told by the school to isolate because he's not in his classes so the school doesn't consider him to be "close contact". This is what I was told when I emailed the school. A friend of mine is a teacher there and when I asked him about it, he said that SLT are managing it and he doesn't know anything about how the decisions are made.
DS (and others) are concerned about being in contact with the boyfriend and I'm uncomfortable sending DS to school when they're clearly not following guidance. Am I being hysterical and overreacting or are my concerns reasonable?

What is the bigger risk to your child - Covid or a two week lapse in his eduction? That is a LOT at 15, i assume doing GCSEs, and as he hasn't been told to isolate i wouldn't count on them sending work home (he may also be counted as truant). I missed a week of school in yr10 due to surgery and even 12 years later i can remember how completely overwhelmed i was when i got back and realised how much everyone else had been taught while i was gone. Still have no idea what happened in 1779 regarding the French Revolution.

Don’t be daft, even if your DS did get it, he’d most likely be asymptomatic. Don’t let his education suffer.
His year will be out at some point. But, then they’ll have online learning.
