To tell the school?

Foundation aged children. On the WhatsApp group mum was posting yesterday morning how her child was still chucking up from bug and just seen her dropping him off at school. It’s 48 hours clear isn’t it?! Not sure if school knew why he was off but all the parents do obviously.
I’m a coward so I probably won’t call but wibu if I did - think it’s massively selfish to send infectious child into school 😤

Yes tell the school.

Everytime my kid brings home a vomit bug from school it is shared though the household and it sucks trying to be caring to sick kids while hurling your guts out.

Yes definitely bring it up with the school. It's irresponsible of the parents not to stick to the 48 he rule and most likely the other children will catch the bug

I don't think I'd have the guts to do it personally but I'd be happy if someone else did. I get it, it's annoying when you're kid is recovered from a bug and you have them climbing the walls for 2 days but it's much more annoying for other families if they spread it around school and then entire other families are off work for days.

Are you sure it's 48 hours? At my daughter's primary school it was, only 24 hours (which never seemed long enough to me).

Nottherealslimshady · 14/10/2020 09:32

I definitely would! Are your kids in the same class?

NameyNoo92 · 14/10/2020 09:33

It's usually 48 he's at our school, but as vomitting is a sign of covid in children they now have to be off for 7 days.

Tell the school. The parent won't know it was you who told

SadderThanEeyore · 14/10/2020 09:34

NHS advice is 48 hrs. All schools should follow that advice.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 14/10/2020 09:38

Tell the school.
DDs school was hit by a horrible bug about 18 months ago. You got a mild sickness bug, got better for a couple of days, then got the second wave. Lots of seemingly fine children went back to school, only for the second wave to hit. And they had been genuinely clear for 48hrs.

SnakesOrLadders · 14/10/2020 11:10

It’s definitely 48 hours after the last vomiting or diarrhoea episode and as the mum was kind enough to keep us well informing on her child’s stomach activity that 48 hours would mean her child could come back to school tomorrow at the earliest.
Children in same class 😭
