To suddenly want an alice band?

I have never worn an alice band and always associated them with Sloanes, but I was quite taken with this one worn by Bella Hull on Stand up for Live Comedy last night. Would I be unreasonable to try to find this Alice band?

I have loads and I love them, they work with my style and also - who cares! If you like them that’s all that matters.
Etsy is a good place to look for more interesting styles and small sellers. I’ve got a nice new one from Primark though that’s corduroy 😍

I cut my hair short at the beginning of lockdowd then remembered why I dont wear it like that much (cant stand hair on my face). So got some Alice bands

I now have them to match my dresses and masks. I probably also look like I should be a childrens tv presenter

rainbowninja · 13/10/2020 14:39

I think they really suit some people so go for it if you can pull it off, personally my foreheads too big 🤣

AHintOfStyle · 13/10/2020 14:40

@Waveysnail

They are awful. Your woman from little mix looks like a royal princess reject
Which woman from little mix ?
Tanfastic · 13/10/2020 14:49

I bought one, made me look v frumpy and mumsy so I just wear it when I'm putting on a face pack now to keep the hair off my face. I've got a fringe though and I'm 47 so prob too old and not the right hairstyle.

Sloanes?

Hard-shell bands are not useful ime, I prefer soft ones that can be stuffed in a pocket or on a wrist as required.

Pashazade · 13/10/2020 14:53

One of the swimming instructors at DS's lesson wears one to keep his curls out of the way, he is apparently working his way back to a full Afro, it did actually suit him although it seems a little incongruous with the tight T-shirt and lovely physique.....Wink

Fishfingersandwichplease · 13/10/2020 14:59

I got a lovely one in Primark last week - sick of breaking sunglasses using them as headbands!

goose1964 · 13/10/2020 15:11

I definitely go into Sloane territory if I wear one

NoseRinger · 13/10/2020 15:26

I might go for one or two of the Liberty of London Tana Lawn ones.

I wish they came in different sizes. I seem to have a giant head so they give me a headache.

Funnyface1 · 13/10/2020 16:16

Why are people knocking Anne Boleyn? That's a classy look. I'm getting one. Or more.

Nonotthisagain · 13/10/2020 16:20

Well you can get one but be prepared for Rupert Campbell-Black to take it off and fling it into the nearest bin.

ExclamationPerfume · 13/10/2020 16:28

Anyone over 5 years old looks hideous wearing one.

Exactly - at least, until she was beheaded.

They're great for girls,

But you’re a grown up woman so🤷🏼‍♀️

Each to their own.

Funnyface1 · 13/10/2020 17:19

If I was going to be beheaded I'd appreciate some decent head gear.

CorvusPurpureus · 13/10/2020 18:21

When I was a teenaged goth in the 80s it was a good use for laddered lacey or fishnet tights.

Cut off damaged leg, knot ends together & voila!

Wear remaining one legged pair of tights with another one legged pair of tights - bonus points for spidery lace on one leg & fishnet on t'other Grin.

I still do this with the legs of old tights to keep my hair out of the way when putting on make up or painting a ceiling, but I believe I'm officially too old to carry it off as a fashion statement Wink.

LadyWithLapdog · 13/10/2020 18:35

I last saw one on Carrie Symmonds do it’s gotta be a no from me.

HavelockVetinari · 13/10/2020 18:36

Over 30 I think they look odd (which shows my ageism!)

CrochetBug · 13/10/2020 18:39

I loved Alice bands in my younger days. They were always flatter than the one in the pic here though. I've made some cotton headband ones that match my masks this year Grin
I probably look ridiculous, but I give no fucks.

I've done the same and love them. I've had quite a few positive comments about matchiness
