We have Maggi instant noodles, uses Sunflower oil rather than Palm oil.

ReeseWitherfork · 12/10/2020 19:33

Don’t avoid all palm oil, research companies that have sustainable palm oil use.

Unilever make pot noodles and they’re ticking all the boxes but they’re getting there:

I’m looking for gluten free instant noodles ( that aren’t rice noodles). No luck so far!

You don't need to avoid palm oil. You need to buy products with RSPO palm oil in. Presuming you're in the UK, that'll be pretty much all palm oil in the majority of supermarket own brand products...

@ReeseWitherfork thanks for that website, really helpful!

@Lovescookies brilliant, I'll give them a go - any flavour recommendations?

@noodlecraving I think they come in the standard chicken, curry and beef flavours. My hubby is the person who eats them, his preference is beef, but he'll happily eat the other flavours too (when Asda subs them) Smile

Poundland often has a multipack of 5 x Maggi for £1 (or they may have made it 4 or £1 now).

OP, why do you avoid palm oil? Until Nigeria discovered crude oil palm oil, cocoa and cotton were the main sources of export revenue. Oil has caused a lot of horrid issues in Nigeria especially where Shell is concerned so I don't buy from them. Palm oil is actually healthier, cleaner and more sustainable. It helps small indigenous farmers and and doesn't create waste or harm the environment. I was curious as to the reason why some have a big aversion to palm oil and realised that the push is by sophisticated investors in ultra processed rapeseed oil initially called Conola oil. This oil is actually linked to several diseases and was banned in 1956. Unlike palm oil which is therapeutic, used to calm boils, rashes, temperature, skin irritations and much more. Palm fruits/nuts are simply pounded and pressed or boiled and and the oil separated. There're no orangutans in Africa.

@Delectable when a country loses 50%+ of its native forest to palm oil plantations it most definitely does harm the environment. And most palm oil is not produced by small scale farmers, it's big business.
