My 10 month old DD has just picked up an antibiotic capsule and I think she has eaten it.

I know they’re not toxic for babies but I’m panicking so much

@lolalouiseee

I have severe health anxiety and tend to overreact in these situations. That’s why I posted. Sorry I wouldn’t hesitate to call if I was 1000% sure
Odd you regard posting on mumsnet as an over reaction

A gross under reaction I would say to you thinking your baby had taken adult medication

You definitely did not over-react, quite the opposite! Posting on here rather than calling for advice or taking her to A&E was definitely under-reacting!

Oh god, I just had a flashback to my MIL looking after my crawling son. With open bottles of bleach in her ground floor toilet with the door left open.

Her response on being challenged? 'Well, he'll just have to learn not to touch, won't he?'

He was SIX MONTHS OLD fgs!

@Milknosugarthx

Some weird comments on here. Op made a mistake, we all make them. We're all human. We all drop things on the floor by accident. So many high and mighty on here it's unbelievable. Glad your little one is ok OP.
Of course we all make mistakes, we're only human. But the thing is, if you drop an antibiotic tablet, you know - as you need to put it in your mouth there and then, so you'd notice that it was no longer in your hand.

So why the actual hell would it not get picked up? You can't just leave medication lying round if you have a child, even more so if - by OP's own admission - they often eat things from the floor.

So glad that things did not seem as bad as first thought. Bless you

DrManhattan · 11/10/2020 21:40

1000% I cannot cope

Milknosugarthx · 13/10/2020 23:12

@LindaEllen
I'm fully aware that medication cannot be left lying around, and yes if it is dropped should be picked up immediately. I agree!

There’s always one smeghead ready to stick the knife in to an already overwhelmed Op isn’t there Hmm
Kids have survived worse than a bit of fluff op, be more vigilant with your medication in future and keep it locked away at all times Brew
