To say it is harder

For people who have chronic illnesses to find work?
I know 2 people in my life who have chronic illnesses and both been made redundant. Not because of that but because of coronavirus.
One is in the process of being diagnosed with a 2nd chronic illness and just this year alone, will have 4 appointments with most likely, fortnightly blood tests for 2 weeks lasting 3 months.
Their job is forward facing and cannot be done remotely. What are they meant to do and aibu to think they are really going to struggle through no fault of their own?

This has been difficult for most people. It’s not a competition over who has it worse.

Well, obviously Confused.
But clearly someone with chronic health issues, particularly at the start of being treated for one, is going to find it a lot harder than someone who does not have health issues.
I just wonder how they will manage and feel they are going to struggle.

@SimplyPizza ythis thread is specifically about chronic illness though.

I agree totally OP.

I agree.

My partner doesn’t have a chronic illness, but he has a physical disability, it is quite limiting but it has zero impact on the ability to do his job. Despite this it has made it harder for him to gain employment, people also treat him like he is dim.

Yes, of course it is harder for people with chronic illnesses and disabilities to find and hold employment. There are many, many barriers and we have a government that has deliberately made it almost impossible to access financial support if you're disabled.

And if you do manage to, they already voted to reduce that support below the level at which you would be able to survive. Not because it was necessary to deliberately impoverish disabled people, but because it suited their ideology.

But in our society you have no intrinsic value as a human being - your sole value is based on your economic output. So disabled people are consigned to the dustbin and nobody cares.

Such a great country.

I was thinking it must be hard as well to get a job and then say 'Oh, by the way, I need next Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon off as well as 4th November. Oh and after that I will be needing to be out once every 2 weeks for blood tests. That OK?
It must be so tough. I was unexpectedly made redundant the other week but I am physically healthy so will find it a lot easier than the people I know who are in the same position but physically have health issues.
