I'm a student nurse and have just started back ag placement last week after 15 months off and have been doing three 12 hoyr shifts a week with one day off in between. On my day off I'm absolutely shattered and have to have a 2 hour nap during the day. Will this get any easier Confused
A tired student

Hi OP please make use of all the advice and support from NHS people to look after yourself. Some of my colleagues are tired and drained and yet take no purposeful action towards self care. Rest when you can for sure!

Hi OP what year are you in your nursing? Is it nights that your struggling on?

Where’s your placement? It could be the area that is heavy?

Badbanana · 10/10/2020 15:27

I found it was completely different after dc and ended up retraining and moving careers completely.

StrawberryBlossom234 · 10/10/2020 15:34

Ahhh nursing and babies is tiring. How old are they? Nursing is long hours and tough. I remember going back to work and DS was 13months (not a good sleeper by then) I was exhausted too. It does get easier when kids get older.

I think the job takes up a lot of mental energy when you are starting out. Its a steep learning curve and that settles down with experience so it starts to feel less draining.
