So, I've just come up to bed, settling down to go to sleep and I can't stop scratching, I'm itchy all over and it happens most nights. I drives me mad, what is it?

It happens to me too. For me it’s the change in temperature that triggers it. So if I leave a nice cosy sitting room and go to bed I’d be scratching like crazy. I’m on a daily antihistamine for this (prescribed by gp).

Could just be dry skin, do you use body lotion regularly?

MellowMelly · 10/10/2020 00:37

My itching is caused by the peri menopause. Honestly drives me bonkers and is the reason I’m awake now Grin

quizqueen · 10/10/2020 00:41

Bed bugs?

TrainspottingWelsh · 10/10/2020 00:49

Lice
Ringworm
Scabies
Covid 19

GrumpiestCat · 10/10/2020 00:54

Vit d deficiency
Vit 12 deficiency
Perimenopause
Too much booze before bed/blood sugar drop
You only generally get the itch from pests the next day if memory serves

Justpickaname · 10/10/2020 14:21

Nope, dont have dry skin,
Don't regularly drink before bed.
It could be pre menopause maybe?
It's only at bed time so don't think it's my washing powder.
I deffo don't have bed bugs or fleas lol

Low iron and vit d can cause itching

Howlooseisyourgoose · 10/10/2020 14:32

Sleep in long sleeved cotton PJs, it helps me.

Justpickaname · 10/10/2020 15:02

Does the fact it only happens at night make a difference to what it could be?

OP posts:
longtompot · 10/10/2020 15:08

I have this but mine is caused by anaemia. I take antihistamines which help a bit.

MellowMelly · 10/10/2020 16:00

Well it does help to narrow things down if it only happens at night. For instance nocturnal pruritis is itching at night and is caused by our circadian rhythms. The body is a mysterious thing!
