Botox - AIBU to consider it?

As above! I am mid thirties and have developed elevensies which make me look grumpy. In photos I can look concerned or pissed off for no reason! So am now considering Botox but want opinions....

Is it unreasonable to think that doing my 11 lines will lead me to freeze my whole forehead in future? (Ie: has anyone only done their 11 lines and nothing else and looked okay?)

No harm in getting a consultation. Ask for recommendations from friends, and take the less is more approach.

I have. It worked brilliantly. You’re the perfect age as well. Although I then started noticing my forehead lines so I started getting those done at the same time. Wish I’d done it sooner.

I have a consultation next Thursday for this!

I started getting Botox in my early 30s. I could see fine lines starting and they're away because I get it done.

Do PLEASE remember that Botox is a prescription only medicine so do not go with some beautician that can do it the second after she has fraudulently taken your medical history! It does not work that way. Make sure the clinic you use has a prescribing GP/Nurse in situ. Otherwise you only have yourself to blame if it all goes wrong as they won't be insured if it was not prescribed personally for you and therefore illegal.

I have botox regularly and love it. I'm 30 but I feel it's preventative more than anything. I had some lines on my forehead and my frown line was starting to set.

I do think it's difficult to target specific lines though, and it's likely if there are a lot of lines you'll end up with your forehead frozen! It takes a while to get used to. I can still wiggle my eyebrows around a little which makes it look a bit more natural, but people can probably tell.

Also agree with all PPs - make sure you get someone who's qualified! A midwife does mine, she's very experienced and doesn't up-sell which I like. Never go for the cheapest!

I just had it for the first time this week! I am really pleased with the results and I am now not frowning constantly for the first time in my life! I wish I’d done it before!

Do it! But do your research, check reviews! I have it twice a year . I go to a Doctor. It doesn't look obvious and I look so much better, fresher for it. It will change your face, for the better if done properly!

I had mine done by a doctor, didn’t have a frozen face and it helped tension headaches!

Plmoknijb123 · 09/10/2020 20:25

Great! Thanks all! I think I will do it! Just a want to keep it to a minimum as it is likely that if I like it I will need to keep it up.

For those that have had it, have you found that other wrinkles have sprung up to compensate?

No cannot say I have noticed. I have a very droopy eyelid (hereditary) and I have botox above this eye but way up my forehead. I am thrilled to bits with what my doctor has done because otherwise my self confidence would be really low.

I love it and miss it since lockdown. I see a prescribing nurse, who was recommended to me. Start with less, you should have a follow up a week or so later where they can top it up. I get the most massive, awful headache afterwards but it's worth it. I do find that it sometimes makes the wrinkles/movement in my face moves a little as you will naturally move a different part of you face (as no matter how "natural" you think it looks, you are literally freezing part of your face). I think it can work well if you start earlish as a preventative measure. I think you can just have 11s done... I think if you have crow's feet or forehead done you need a little in the other to balance it out otherwise your brow can look a little heavy (I can't remember which exactly!) Make sure you have a consultation, and that they offer a follow up as part of the package.
