Now, I'm not usually a wuss when it comes to pain - at all. Yesterday, I lifted up my son and jarred my wrist slightly. That's not that unusual and all fine really. Since then, the wrist has been getting steadily more painful. For the past few hours, I've been in absolute agony. It's excruciating!! I can move it a bit backwards and forwards, but if I try to move it side to side (like waving) or twist it (like the Queen waves) then it's absolutely unbearable.
There's no swelling or bruising at all. It looks completely normal. I did the usual google and came up with nothing useful. I don't want to bother a GP during Covid with something that will probably go away.
Has anyone experienced this? How do I ease the pain?

Ouch! That sounds really painful. I wonder what you did? Possibly caught a nerve in the wrong way?
Is there perhaps a minor injuries unit near you?

Osteopath? Tomorrow? Ice pack it now and alternate with hot water bottle.

Sounds like it could be tendinitis, I'd maybe have a look on amazon for a wrist support strap/splint
I have tendinitis (mothers wrist) the doctor called it 🙄
And it came on all of a sudden for me after lifting my LO it's not sore anymore just really restrictive when trying to change nappies as I can't move it from side to side it sort of locks
I was referred to physiotherapy just before Covid so I never got it sorted

I sprained my wrist once removing a table cloth.

Hurt like anything for a few days. Came on suddenly - a minor jarring pain when I did it, but the next day I couldn't move my wrist.

Like sprained ankles do, it too a couple of weeks to settle

I'd call gp for advice, you can say why you are calling for advice and they can direct you elsewhere if necessary.

Please don’t feel like you can’t ask your GP or local hospital for help. As a nurse I can assure you the nhs is open and here for everybody, not just covid related illnesses. Don’t be in excruciating pain, do exactly as you would of pre covid.

I hope you get looked at soon.

I also thought tendinitis or tenosynovitis. How old is your ds? It often comes when you are frequently lifting a baby or small child around by putting your hands under their armpits with thumb back and fingers forward, and tilting the wrists as you lift. It is the particular repetition of this which aggravates the tendons or the sheath they pass through in the wrist, and the fix is to try to find alternative ways to do things to avoid that particular movement. I suffered horribly with ds1, but not so much with subsequent dc because I knew what to avoid.

Hope you get it sorted.

I had de quervains which was extremely painful. Try wrapping elastic or a bandage or something around your fist and moving your thumb in and out for short bursts multiple times a day.

I had something similar and essentially made a wrist splint for myself. I borrowed my husbands wrist bands/gloves for when he is lifting weights, put a wooden 30cm ruler inside the glove so that it was running down my inner arm and then bound it up with a bandage tightly and put an elastic support bandage on top. And then basically barely moved my wrist at all until it eased, used plenty of the painkillers I got after giving birth too!
