@bloodywhitecat that is horrendous!! I would never be able to use the toilet again! Was it alive?

Just having the same problem.
Partly because I have had my Brothers dogs staying with me for the best part of a year and no she is back from abroad, they are back with him and I'm dogless...they would sleep in utility room adjacent to kitchen and outside door...

I had a very insistent rat and he would make so much noise and eat anything in the base units....rat man came and put bait in kkckboards...AND found out this - Rats LOVE CALGON dishwasher tablets....I knew it wasn't me, I kept running out or finding a full box half empty and wondering how that had happened....Rat man found at least 20 empty wrappers underneath sink cupboard kick boards

I am sorry but they deserve to be killed. They are gross and carry diseases and will eat through electrical wires causing fire hazard

They don’t deserve to be killed. Anyone who thinks this doesn’t know a thing about rats and places little value on the lives of others and their right to exist. It’s not OK to kill other beings for your convenience, if it was most of you would have been eradicated years ago!

Humans is best... always!

Very much so, DS fished it out using a plastic cup and a toothbrush. We think it had got onto the porch roof somehow and come in through the slightly open bathroom window and fallen straight into the toilet rather than coming up through the pipes.

It's not likely to be one rat. Rats are highly social and live in big family groups.
I've had mice in my walls. Pest control put silicone sealant on the gaps in skirting boards as rodents can't chew through this, and they basically got trapped inside the walls and starved to death.
All the flats in my building had had enough by this point, the mice had multiplied and gone from flat to flat.
