To think we should be able to get broadband cheaper than this?!

My husband runs a small limited company (just him at home).

We currently pay £85/month broadband and line rental with BT.

My DH says about 25% of this comes off on allowable deductions.

Comparison sites say we can still get great speeds cheaper.

But he says it's illegal/frowned upon to buy personal broadband for business use and we can't put it through the business.

BT Business have given us good service but isn't that price a bit steep??Confused

I used personal broadband for my limited co. I didn’t claim any tax relief for it though.

Thanks for your answer.

Just back from walking the dog.

DH has just told me we are locked into a contact for another 12 months 😝😝😝.

Guess it gives me PLENTY time to shop around!!

That sounds great! Even if we couldn't claim money off for the business we'd still be miles better off!

I'm paying PlusNet £25.99 for Business Broadband (80/20) and unlimited phone calls.
PlusNet are owned by BT!

The "beauty" of Virgin was that it was broadband only. No faffing with phones or anything else. We used VOIP, so I had no need of a phone line.

I did ask BT for a quote, but they refused to guarantee > 5Mbs which the IT dept claimed was "necessary" for full homeworking (personally I reckon it was an excuse to prevent homeworking). But we're in a full fibre area so the speeds start at 100Mb/s anyway.

Worth reading the T&Cs on service. Most domestic BB has a "when we feel like it" time to fix (EE took 10 days to get to DS when his went down) whereas a line specifically installed for business use should have a 24 hour turnaround.

Wow that's interesting! Was looking at PlusNet no idea they were owned by BT!

Definitely make sure you get a business contract though. It offers you more protections if there is a problem compared to consumer contracts.

I wish we could get those prices. Our residential broadband (no phone service or TV included) is $155 a month. Internet is ridiculously expensive here.
