AIBU to expect people to arrive on fucking time

I know this has been done before but I find it so awful. I’ve been out for two meals recently, different groups, hosted by an individual as a thanks. On both occasions, I have arrived on time to see the host already seated in the restaurant, waiting, with a bottle of bubbly. It’s been about 20 mins before the remaining four guests have started to arrive. If I hadn’t been on time the one person would have been sat on their own for a good 20 minutes.

And no, these are not eight individuals with anxiety or other mental health problems (that I know of and I know you never can tell but I think it’s unlikely they would all be struggling) and they do manage to be on time regularly for work commitments.

It’s so fucking rude.

Just start without them. Down the champagne, order your food, and since you'll finish your meal 20 minutes ahead of them, you can leave earlier and leave them to pick up the bill.

It drives me crazy, I know things come up from time to time but I can think of a couple of folk in my life who are perpetually late. They hold down responsible jobs, and function in most areas of life and yet are 20/30 minutes late for everything. So bloody disrespectful.

Yanbu. I can't stand being late - me or other people.

@contrmary the person hosting, who was there on time and made to wait, was picking up the bill.

For some of them it’s definitely an attempt to show how important they are. It just makes me think a great deal less of them
