To question paying £60 start up fee for ds kick boxing class

Ive just paid £60 for the start up fee which included insurance and kit - trousers, t shirt and boxing gloves) then on top of that £30 a month for the actual monthly fee (45 minute session once a week). I asked how much the insurance is and was told £20. So ive paid £39 for the kit which seems excessive for three items. Is £89 for the first month for a club a reasonable amount to charge?

Seems reasonable enough. My son's martial arts class costs £40 a month and the kit was £80. They did offer the first few sessions free though.

That's not too bad a price!!!
Mine do karate and gloves were £25, trousers are £20 and t-shirts £15 (£60 total) they do a karate gi that's cheaper than the trousers and t-shirt but it's not as comfortable.

It's also about £30 a month for the classes (but we get a family discount so pay £100 for 4 of us) as many classes as we want to attend.

We were at a diff club who wanted £50 for gi, and was going to be over £100 for all the sparring gear, and £35 a month for one class a week!! We left as it seemed to be all about the money!!!

Thanks for responses. I just signed up as son enjoyed it but then came away questioning the prices but it seems reasonable after reading your replies. Will go to sleep now not feeling ripped off Grin

Sounds about normal. we got a free lesson, then a lesson with kit included which was more (I think £60) then monthly lessons are £39. We pay about £30 for each grading which includes his new belt.

We are allowed to attend more than one class too if we want to (in the normal world, not at the moment because of COVID) but the other classes are a bit of a trek and DS isn't keen so we don't.

(I mean lessons are weekly, not monthly - thats what we pay monthly!)
