to ask where pregnant women can go for flu vaccine if GP won't do it?

NHS website stresses the importance of Flu Vaccines for all pregnant women as early in flu season as possible. GP refusing to give them to anyone other than over 65's. All local chemists have run out. Boots & Superdrug have suspended bookings due to supply issues. Already a high risk pregnancy and now stressing about this too...

AIBU to think GP should include pregnant women in the same vulnerable group as over 65s? And PLEASE - can anyone tell me of any chemists still with stocks? Willing to pay and can travel anywhere within London. Thank you!

I saw a few pharmacies in my area offering the jabs. Might be worth looking on line or ringing them up ?
Hope you can get one soon.

Glad you got sorted. I got the flu at 12 weeks pregnant and it was the most horrendous experience ever...!!!(was due to get the vaccine the day after I had to visit the GP....) ended up in hospital. So in summary its definetly important..!

I had mine done at boots. I booked a private slot as I didn’t think I’d be able to get an nhs one, but on the day, they filled in the nhs form for me and I didn’t have to pay. I booked it early on though, at the start of September before all the slots went...

I had a text from my doctor to get mine - at around 18 weeks. As it was I happened to have a midwife appointment the same week and they pretty much wouldn't let me leave the building until I had it 🤣 so I'd try your midwife

It’s not as simple s many people think. GP’s aren’t just deciding to be difficult or annoying, you know. There are different vaccines for different age groups and there have been supply issues with the flu vaccine for the at risk under 65 group. They may not have a vaccine they can give. Or they may have been earmarked for very high risk patients and only available to “lower risk” at risk patients once they’ve done the highest risk.

In addition, in some areas it is the midwives or local immunisation teams who are giving vaccines to pregnant women- your GP will not be given the vaccines to cover pregnant women if that is the case (GPs cannot just order however many vaccines they fancy- the numbers they are allowed to order are based on the number of eligible patients).
