I yawned in a video call yesterday and then he said “are you tired” I’m worried he will now think I’m rude.

You're overthinking it. He's just checking whether youre sleeping and if you're tired all the time ( TATT). General Qs a psyciatrist will ask.

You don't need to be on your best behaviour OP. My counsellor has seen me dog tired, ratty & really not nice on occasion . He wasn't offended & realised I was struggling those times & it as useful talking about why.

I do the same thing OP, constantly worry if people are mad or I've upset them but MH professionals are made of sterner stuff. You haven't annoyed him. My therapist, in the space of a year, has reassured me, probably upwards of a hundred times that he isn't annoyed or fed up or experiencing any kind of negative feeling towards me and I have no doubt that he will do it a couple hundred more times before we're done. They get this all the time, anxiety is common and this behaviour is textbook social anxiety.
Same here.

If he was annoyed (by a yawn) what would be the worst thing that would happen?

165EatonPlace · 09/10/2020 05:14

Did you cover your mouth when you yawned? I dont mind anybody yawning but I'm amazed that so many people think its OK to yawn and not have the good manners to cover their mouth.

Tinkerbell456 · 09/10/2020 05:17

I wouldn’t worry about annoying him. As a nurse With some psych experience, I can tell you that psychiatrists have a pretty high tolerance for annoying behaviour-no business in psychiatry if they don’t. A yawn is nothing! I doubt he was annoyed. A genuine question, I would say.

eaglejulesk · 09/10/2020 06:15

Why on earth would he be annoyed? His response was a perfectly normal one and he wouldn't have given it a second thought.
