To ask about home hair dye?

I had a balayage done in August, my mid brown hair was dyed a lighter brown / dark blonde, with a later shade of blonde as the balayage.

I bloody hate it but can't afford to get it redone professionally just yet.

Would putting a mid-brown semi-perm home colour on it lead to disaster??

I don't think so. But a lot of 'semi-permanent' are advertised as that when in fact they're actually permanent because they have an activator and contain peroxide. As long as you know what you're looking for and you apply evenly then I think you'll be more than fine. I'm yet to find a semi permanent brown that is actually semi permanent tho. If you find one let me know please lol.

Can you do a test ? Either a section you can hide under the top layer, or cut a piece which shows that colour transition today & see if you like it.
If your hair is long and thick be sure to get 2 boxes of your chosen colour.
I coloured my hair a couple of times in lockdown - it was fine, just take your time , wear gloves and protect any areas of your bathroom that may stain.

Home hair dye is easy to use. I really rate the loreal casting creme, I used it a few times in lockdown and was perfect.

Always do the patch test!
If you’ve got very long hair, you May need 2 boxes ( my hair is shoulder length and 1 box is enough for me)
When you apply the dye, wrap an old towel round your shoulders
Put Vaseline around the top of your forehead, to stop you dying your head too!

Just buy some and dye it.

Thanks all. I've done it at home loads of times before. I've just never had hair this light before so wasn't sure how the semi-permanant would work over the bleach.

Just avoid any with golden in the colour on top of any pre dyed hair, mine ended up orange. I usually go mid blonde to neutralise colour and tend to leave on 5 minutes longer than they say to get better coverage.

I agree re the Castings range.

I know of several women who used it on their dark hair during the the last few months and haven't gone back to getting it done professionally as they were so happy with it.
