To ask for help setting questions for a family quiz?

dreegin · 04/10/2020 18:16

A relative has organised a Zoom quiz to bring family together for a birthday. I need to set a round of questions. Ages are from 5 to 75. I don't want to Google for ready-made quizzes because one branch of the family are regular quiz organisers and may have seen them all before. So I thought Mumsnetters might help generate random questions. Can you help?

How many oceans are there?

JamieLeeCurtains · 04/10/2020 18:29

I like 'fill in the missing word' questions so everyone can have a fun guess, young and old.

Name the missing fruit in these song and book titles:

E.g.
-- Sugar High
--- Are Not The Only Fruit
-- Fields Forever
Don't Sit Under The - Tree

Etc

Then you can all argue about whether they're really, technically fruits or not.

Where is the smallest bone in the human body?

StillCoughingandLaughing · 04/10/2020 18:34

I hosted a Zoom quiz at work recently and one thing that worked well was bonus questions where there are several possible answers - for example, the most popular boys’ names in the UK last year. The sort of thing that doesn’t need specialist knowledge that most people could have a guess at.

A music round is always good too. You can do a mix of decades so that it doesn’t favour any particular age group. For the last one I did colours (‘All Rise’ by Blue, ‘Purple Rain’ etc.)

ClarencesMum · 04/10/2020 18:40

I done a picture round if your platform supports that. It was pictured of tourist attractions, taken as if you had your back to them. Was really fun and threw in some local spots as well. I had Uluru, Eiffel Tower, Colosseum and lots of others, easy done using google maps.

Crystalknobs · 04/10/2020 18:42

Or rather what is the biggest organ a human body has ? (The skin)

Logo rounds are good fun too.

justasmalltownmum · 04/10/2020 18:46

We did this as a family too. Guess the logo questions are fun.

Try rocketquizzes.co.uk - I've no affiliation to it. The quizzes look really good (and no effort required!) but I haven't bought one as none of my family wanted to do quizzes during lockdown...

GetTheGoodLookingGuy · 04/10/2020 19:18

How many households are there? I've done a fridge round in two zoom quizzes that have gone down really well - get everyone to send you a picture of the inside of their fridge (as if they were taking a picture before they were going shopping to remind themselves what's in there) and they put them on a powerpoint in a random order, screen share, and they have to guess who's fridge is whose. Probably needs at least six households to work properly, though.

A friend of mine did a round where he muted himself and sang nursery rhymes and you had to figure you the song by lip reading.

Nottherealslimshady · 04/10/2020 19:22

We do an alphabet quiz. Theres a simple question for each letter I.e an animal. You've got to name an animal whose name starts with that letter. You get a point for a unique correct answer.

pudcat · 04/10/2020 19:52

What about an anagram round on a certain topic eg fruit, countries, animals

BrigitsBigKnickers · 04/10/2020 20:10

We did quite a few family zoom quizzes at the beginning of lockdown.

We had a "Which family member did/ said? " ( we have been on quite a few family holidays where certain infamous things have happened!)

My DD did this amazing round where she somehow managed to make images which combined members of the family and we had to guess which 2 they were. E.g. hair and eyes of Mary and mouth and nose of Bert- It was so funny- everyone was in stitches! She did the same the following week combining celebrities with family members. E.g. the queen and Granny.

Other DD also did one with small snippets of well known songs where we had to say what the next line of lyrics were. Could easily include some kids songs so the smaller ones could join in.

We played to the strengths of the combined group- we are all big Dr Who fans so questions about various monsters.

Another one was finding a word to link three others e.g. house, spot, sun ( light)

Could you do a ‘Name the theme tune’ and play music from current children’s theme tunes, to older theme tunes?
