The comments on this make me very very sad, what is the world coming to when people can’t have some compassion and understanding.

I don’t get posters on here’s absolute apparent hatred for the Mail - yet the amount of posts that contain links to it say otherwise. I for one will happily admit to enjoying reading articles on the app.

AngeloMysterioso · 05/10/2020 20:58

All the top rated comments seem pretty reasonable to me...

The DM is the only UK paper with a predominantly female readership!

Gran22 · 06/10/2020 06:29

Its has Sudoku X! I buy it occasionally because I like that puzzle. I've not found it anywhere else. It also has a good TV mag on a Saturday.

As has been said, you can read it without believing in, or agreeing with, most of it.

CatMagic · 06/10/2020 06:32

YANBU. Never, ever go on the site anymore. What they allow is terrible. It's a wasteland full of very unhappy people.

Straven123 · 06/10/2020 07:21

I subscribe to the times and find that the comments there can be sexist and nasty - it's anonymous - that's the problem. So anyone can spit their venom and then carry on their life acting Mr/Mrs niceperson.

lifestooshort123 · 06/10/2020 07:34

I have the DM delivered every day and I'm tucked up in bed with a cuppa looking at it now but I don't believe everything I read. Later on I will do the cryptic crossword and some of the other puzzles. During the week the health, finance and femail sections usually have some interesting articles. At the weekend I have the Times delivered mainly for news around the world and the excellent Saturday colour supplement. I don't read the mail online so have no idea what the comments are like but I imagine a mixed bag and a bit like MN - there are judgemental keyboard warriors everywhere.

The mail is free and the app is easily accessible and simple. You can also get a good idea of the news without having to read reams and reams. If I see an interesting article I can always search elsewhere for a different perspective or more info.

Thats why people read it. Not because they are right wing biggots. Just because people put nasty shit in the comments section doesn't mean all readers endorse those opinions. People put nasty shit on mn - doesn't mean I think it too just because read mn.

And Fwiw, women have made a bigger deal about the maternity care restrictions than they need to. The scans are to check the babies health - not a jolly for the father to see the baby. If you want that get a private scan. Yes it must be hard getting bad news alone, but if you're worried partner can be outside if you need them. We're all adults we need to learn to cope on our own. This is speaking as someone that's had the worst news you can get at a 12 week scan and is currently pregnant.

And men don't need to be on the induction ward or the post labour ward. And in my opinion shouldn't be anyway. It's a womans ward and should be women only. If you want your fella there outside visiting you should have to pay for a private room.

As long as they can be present for active labour - which for many is the only time pre birth they are actually in the hospital - then I don't see the problem.

How are you going to look after another human if you can't manage one night in hospital on your own.

@EmbarrassedUser

Shake your head all you like but I’m going to continue reading it.
and why shouldn't you read it if you like it ? i'd be interested to know what other people on mn read papers /online. i expect with would be the high end and very few would admit to reading the lower red tops i've said before on here people get wound up about the daily mail but there are quite often links to it for various stories. how would one know about then unless they had read it, then take time to post about it and add a link, and complain that they hate the paper so much. why would you waste precious time frothing at the mouth to do that ?hypocrites comes to mind.

you aren't in the cool gang are you , it's been a long standing trend to bash the mail, everytime i've read the words 'daily fail' i think oh, another sheep, probably reads it but doesn't want to get their arse handed to them. i haven't read papers for years but i do believe in freedom of choice and everyone should be able to read what they want without being called thick or ignorant.
eddiemairswife · 06/10/2020 09:51

I read The Guardian and then The Daily Mail, both on-line.
