I'm from Newcastle.
We are in local lockdown.
Not allowed to socialise with anyone outside household and nobody is allowed in your home etc.
I have a weekend in Leeds booked next week.
Aibu to go ?
Is that even allowed ?

You can go even within restrictions!

Manchester has been in ‘local lockdown’ since July- the trouble is people get bored and fed up and after eat out to help out with all restaurants packed it seems ridiculous.

I will get shot down probably but I’m making a point of going around my friends and family’s back gardens now (socially distanced with masks) as we haven’t been able to see each other in months and expect worse restrictions to come- going to see each other now whilst still warm enough to be outside in a coat before battening down the hatches for winter and back to zoom quizzes!

DumplingsAndStew · 02/10/2020 20:48

Doesn't seen to be any restrictions against it, so if you feel ok with it, I'd go.

houselikeashed · 02/10/2020 21:16

Personally, I don't think you should go. I think it's irresponsible at the moment. The virus is spreading, and you're in a high risk area. Moving around the country is not a great idea.
I can see I'm out voted though.
Just my opinion.

@ABabyPanda

That’s fine, I’ve been in local lockdown since July!
Wow :(

Where

AldiAisleofCrap · 02/10/2020 21:32

@GameSetMatch I’m not sure, in Liverpool you’re not allowed out of the area. no the guidance for non essential travel is within the area not travelling for holidays.

I would only go if it’s to another local lockdown area or if you have been shielding or self isolating for at least 14 days. Or if you are going to somewhere incredibly remote where you will go on walks only.

willstarttomorrow · 02/10/2020 21:34

I am in Leeds and tbh the guidance here is as clear as mud, and I have a statutory duty to visit vulnerable children!
Leeds is a fab city with loads to do but be aware that there has been an increase in covid cases throughout the city for several weeks. It is not limited to any area, any age group or ethnicity so in contrast to other cities.

Saying this, I work for LCC so this is why I know this. So whilst it is a substantial increase in cases compared to March the city is open as usual. As visitors you will probably be okay. However all the students are back and Leeds has a huge student population. Just follow social distancing, use masks, hand wash etc. Enjoy, it is a fab city. We were in Italy this summer and the same applied.

Presume babypanda is in Greater Manchester like me - we’ve been under local restrictions since 31 July, fat lot of good they have done though seeing as the rates have pretty much tripled in every borough!

Itsabeautifuldayheyhey · 02/10/2020 21:37

www.gov.uk/guidance/north-east-of-england-local-restrictions

"You can still go on holiday outside of the affected local areas, but you should only do this with people you live with (or have formed a support bubble with)."

"There is separate guidance on what to do if you have booked holiday accommodation in an area with local restrictions."

As Leeds went into local lockdown on Saturday 26th September rules in the following link apply:

Thanks everyone.
We are staying in a hotel in city centre
Just heard on the news tonight 770 students at Northumbria uni have tested positive.
So many positive cases.
I think we will still go and just keep 2 m anti bac etc

Another Geordie going away soon! We have a lodge and will eat in, take picnics and go on lots of walks. We need a change of scenery.

imissthesouth · 02/10/2020 23:27

I'd go, but wouldn't mix with others outside your support bubble.

Mischance · 02/10/2020 23:32

As I understand it you are allowed to leave the area for education, work or care responsibilities. I am not sure that a holiday counts!

ceeveebee · 02/10/2020 23:39

You understand wrong Mischance. Have you read the guidance, as it clearly states that you can leave the area to go on holiday?

ithinkiveseenthisfilmbefore · 02/10/2020 23:41

A lot of areas only allow you to leave for work or education etc. Holidays are not considered essential travel.

If you're in one of those areas, you're supposed to stay home.

ceeveebee · 02/10/2020 23:44

Does anyone actually read the guidance before posting their non-fact based opinion?
It’s written in black and white:

People on mumsnet have been inventing rules for the past 6 months Grin

"One hour for daily exercise" being a favourite.

ceeveebee · 03/10/2020 08:29

I think this must be where Boris gets his info from! 😂
