... turned the tv on and then wandered off, leaving you 'watching' utter shite when you were happily reading/mning in peace beforehand.

I'm starting to realise DH has a habit of starting things I have to finish. TV on and wanders off. Outside cushions out but never put away, etc.

Just now he's made DD get her headphones for her iPad so he can watch tv, put ancient star trek on and buggered off to the office after 5 mins (and is now watching shite on YouTube).

Obviously I'll use my words later, but lightheartedly:

YANBU: murder him and live forever in peaceful quiet with everything in its place
YABU: Aww bless, he put star trek on for me, how kind.

He may well like the background noise (well, wouldn't call it background really, he's a bit deaf so it's not quiet) and I absolutely don't mind if he's in the room, it's when he then leaves it annoys me.

However, if he just wanted noise DD was already watching her iPad, so we had noise to start with, and tbh, I'd rather listen to cartoons than half an episode of Next Generation.

Another DH thing that, watching things from half way through!

I have, thankfully, already trained him out of having more than one thing making a noise (e.g. tv and tablet, tv and radio), because that makes my brain melt.

Argh. He does that as well.

'There's the last half hour of Back to the Future' on Film 4'

and?

'Then there's [film I'd like to watch and go to bed at a reasonable time] on the other channel'

'OK, other thing it is, then'.

Marty's getting shoved around by Biff Tannen.

'This isn't the last half hour'

'No, I put it on Film 4+1, then we can watch the other movie when it's on other channel+1'

'Uggggghhhhh. I'm going to bed'

YANBU. As PPs have said, kill him dead OP.

I have one of these. Since he got home from work he has: loaded dishwasher but left the actual dinner plates on the side (how?), switched the radio on while unloading shopping, put half away then went upstairs leaving half on the worktops and the radio still on (and a bloody podcast blasting out of his phone), brought some socks downstairs that need to go in the bin but randomly left them on his side of the sofa, where they'll stay for god knows how long unless I move them.

Other regular features include filling the dishwasher but not switching it on, starting to sort out a cupboard or box, pulling contents out then wandering off and a huge bugbear of mine - settling down to watch something then announcing mid-episode that we need to turn it off because he has work to do / is tired.

He knows I won't go behind and just pick up after him so the options are that he either just does this stuff or he does them after we've had words about it but right now, I'll be your alibi if you'll be mine? 😂

Dh has a shed with a TV and Netflix. Bliss. A few hours free from channel hopping.

Frlrlrubert · 02/10/2020 23:00

Oh Lord, we're watching the last 45 mins of John Wick 2,

I may need those alibi swaps.

Mine likes to scroll through Amazon or Netflix adding films to his ever lengthening list of stuff to watch and then never actually seems to watch any of it. No idea why.
