DP accusing me of making up wasp/bee sting

Okay, this may sound dumb. Dp and I just went on a very brief dog walk through the woods. I have been sat on my arse for the last 6 months so I found the rocky terrain (a path I never take) quite tough going and was having a bit of a moan - been up since 5 and just over it all right now.

So 3/4's in I feel two very painful stings - one on the back of my thigh (towards my butt) and one on the other side -towards my inner thigh almost.

DP was embarrassed by my vocalisations? I guess - mind you we were in a fairly secluded wood in the pouring rain so only a few people about. He actually has the gall to accuse me of making it up in order to get back to the car sooner! I'm still in pain, the bastard!

AIBU to dislike him immensely, I brushed away a hefty f*r when I felt the 1st sting.

Have you had a look to see what mark is there? You perhaps need his help to see if it was a bramble stab, a stingy nettle, or a wasp. It's a bit late for wasps, but I'd want to know, I think.

MulticolourMophead · 02/10/2020 15:51

Surely, he'll be able to see the stung areas for himself and see they're real?

HomeSliceKnowsBest · 02/10/2020 16:53

Horse fly?

Popcornismandatory · 02/10/2020 17:26

No way is it too late for wasps. It's this time of year they are more likely to be bothersome and sting because they're normal food source from their nest has almost disappeared.

Popcornismandatory · 02/10/2020 17:30

Their not they're bloody autocorrect.
I do kind of feel sorry for wasps at this time of year but sorry you got stung OP

Plump82 · 02/10/2020 17:31

Definitely not late for wasps, i was in a queue for the bank and there were tonnes flying around.
Yanbu to dislike him but could he have just been joking about it?

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 02/10/2020 17:39

Could have been a wasp. Dh was working on the car just after lunch today, drizzly rain. A bloody wasp started to circle him. He's very allergic to the sting so we all stopped moving and waited for it to fly off.

rbe78 · 02/10/2020 17:46

Yanbu, but I would guess it was a horsefly rather than wasp. Wasps usually only sting when provoked, but horseflys bite for fun, I swear it! You can really feel them when they go for you too.

Yup I agree horsefly or a clegg and you'll know about it too. You need to check the swelling because those blighters can give you cellulitis and that is not fun. Watch your temperature. Incidentally horseflys go for oestrogen

A wasp stung me for fun. Little bastard, it hurt like hell. I’d never been stung before.

angorarabbit · 03/10/2020 07:30

I was stung by a wasp two days ago. My arm is still sore, itchy and swollen so you have my sympathy! (definitely a wasp, I saw it)
