AIBU to eat this batch-cooked Casserole?

Hoping the Mumsnet hive-mind can settle an argument between me and my husband about batch-cooking!

I have found a portion of cooked chicken casserole in the back of the freezer which was made in February in the slow cooker. It contains chicken breast pieces, bacon, carrots, leeks, onion, chicken stock and probably cornflour.

I have defrosted it and was planning to serve it for dinner tonight but DH is saying that we can't eat it because Google says that you should only keep batch-cooked food in the freezer for 3 months.

AIBU to crack on and serve it for tonight's dinner or am I destined to kill us all??

Most of the links are US. I wonder the different food standards have an effect.
Uk has same. If you look at NHS or food standards agency they explain it.

Imho it should be made much clearer on packaging etc because people not understanding this (and best before dates...) then unnecessary waste perfectly safe food

I wouldn’t reheat poultry if it had been in the freezer or not.

I’d have no problem with a 6 month old beef stew though.

I found a bag of mince from 2014 last week. Mixed it with a recent one and made a lovely cottage pie! Luckily my OH is fine with stuff like that!!

Ive also got turkey sliced up from 2 Christmases ago - cook it in gravy to give flavour and so it doesn't dry out. All good!! Grin

We started doing this after several losses in freezer roulette. “Is that chilli or bolognaise....”

Eat it! I've eaten things way beyond the 'best before date' and it hasn't had any adverse affect on me...

I'd eat it, I dont label what I freeze so therefore have no idea how old they are. As long as they're reheated thoroughly then I'm happy.

We’ve often eaten stuff that’s been in the freezer for ever. Always fine.
It’s criminal to waste perfectly good food.

Am I missing something, why would you freeze poultry in the irst fif you weren't going to eat it in the future Confused

What do people think could happen to frozen food other than a possible loss of taste?

I wouldn’t. I’d never reheat cooked chicken.
