To think that the Queen ought to take one for the team and cook her own roast turkey this year?

Lighthearted. Kind of.

Or surely Will and Kate could pop over with a hot plate for her and Philip, while Charles does the washing up? No reason why Camilla can't stick a wash on while she's over for tea, and the great-grandchildren could make themselves useful by clearing the dinner table. Maybe not all on the same day as that would be breaking the rule of six, obviously.

Och, let them crack on themselves - she's been around a fair few Christmases, she must know the vibe by now.

Philip can film the Christmas day message on his phone and WhatsApp it to the BBC. Job done.

TheKeatingFive · 30/09/2020 21:41

Like a kinda, you know, Xmassay ping meal. Kate could warm it up, if she is not too busy.

What about lazy fuck Wills? Let him do some Christmas wife work for a change.

I don't understand why it'll be different at Windsor Castle. Surely the staff would still have to isolate?
I do feel sorry for the staff. No other employer would be allowed to insist on this.

@TheKeatingFive watch this space for Kate's thread on Christmas Eve:
AIBU to not want to heat up my grandother-in-law's turkey dinner because my DH is too lazy Grin

EdithWeston · 30/09/2020 22:11

Prince Phillip would do the cooking - reputed to be famous for his BBQs (and could possibly shoot the ingredients)

HMQ is more practical, and would probably build the BBQ

It's not just the cooking though, nor the housekeeping (as each place has permanent staff). It'll be the office staff, includung the senior courtiers and private secretaries

Maybe Andy should roll up his sleeves and step in to cook! They may all enjoy it.
Imagine, a family so used to people around all the time. It would be extraordinary to have them alone, at Xmas fending for themselves, going native. Even in their own pantry!

I can't imagine anyone wanting to put anything Andy's touches in their mouth. Bleugh.

I seriously doubt she gets her hands dirty

I know someone who was a member of live in staff at one of the palaces - he told me about the time he ran into the queen when they were both visiting the kitchen for a late night snack. So she evidently does do stuff for herself at least some of the time.
She's very advanced in years now but let's not forget she was in the land army (I think) in the war, or she drove trucks or something. She mucked in anyhow.

@MrsTerryPratchett
DoC supposedly such a lovely cook in her vastly expensive kitchen with that Sugar Fairy Mary Berry Cookbook....as someone who loves to do for her family, let her live-stream her whipping up a home cooked meal and freeze it, as PPS.
Wonder if any of them have ever been or contributed to a potluck dinner? Show all y'all they are suffering too 😢

Saw something about centenegerains who wants Queenie to sign their bday card have to apply for one.

Seems to me one of the flunkies could get a spreadsheet going for her contemporaries, let NHS compile it and send to whichever LiW does her correspondence.

Can't they do just eat?

Pelleas · 01/10/2020 18:52
