Currently the advert which keeps coming up on my screen is one for some kind of watch sales, where the watches start at around £4K and go up as far as £25K. Shock presumably if these companies are advertising here its because they think this will appeal to their demographic?

It’s not only me who couldn’t imagine who would possibly pay 25 grand for a watch? Or even 4 grand....?

If mumsnet is like most websites, those ads are not specific to this site. They are targeted at you specifically. Presumably you or someone in your house looked up or searched something related to watches/accessories recently.

Best thing is to just install an adblocker addon for your web browser and then you don't have to see any of them.

QuestionableMouse · 30/09/2020 16:58

I'm skint.

My ad is Bon Prix, which i did view earlier.

Mummyoflittledragon · 30/09/2020 17:13

I used to get the ear wax one and have now had the tonsil stone one a few times. 🤢 Give ne expensive watches. Purlease!

If you’re into watches then £25k isn’t expensive. Not many below £4k that I’d actually want to own.

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 30/09/2020 17:19

I get ads in Russian and Japanese.
Neither of which I can read.

This right here is what's wrong with our society. Frankly revolting.

The more people post about e%rw%x, the more ads. Which is quite funny to me.

shivermetimbers77 · 30/09/2020 19:01

I’m getting flights to Turkey and something about improving my business agility (I work for the nhs so not sure what the second one is about)

SchrodingersImmigrant · 30/09/2020 19:14

There is nothing "revolting" on expensive watch. It's not like someone is stealing your money to buy them🙄

Well said, there are some beautiful watches that I’d love to drop £500k on but the fact that I can’t doesn’t make me angry. To anyone with such a watch I say congratulations! Good for them! Also bear in mind the investment value, a watch I had opportunity to buy new in 2016 for £5k is worth £30k now - should’ve bought it whilst I had the chance.

FirstOfficerDouglas · 30/09/2020 21:20

I get the earwax ads. Dsigusting! I have never googled anything to do with earwax - ever! Cannot work out why I get them.

StealthPolarBear · 30/09/2020 21:20

Mine all seem to be for pre seed. I have a 13 year old and an 11 year old and am comfortably looking forward to grandparent hood. The suggestion of having a baby is like suggesting I fly to the moon.

CakeRequired · 30/09/2020 21:22

Ads in websites are aimed at the user, which means you op. I work in a technology related job, so my ads are showing stuff for Microsoft etc. Not seen any for watches, but I probably will now. Grin

I don't even notice the ads most of the time, just scroll on past and ignore.

MsAwesomeDragon · 30/09/2020 21:26

I'm getting whiskey investment ads. Dh drinks whiskey sometimes, but we're unlikely to invest in it.

I'm also getting the earwax ads, and bonprix clothes. No posh watches or expensive candles here.

Spied · 30/09/2020 21:26

Redbubble t-shirts and designer outlet wellies/boots currently.

Watches and flights to Pakistan Confused

I got an advert for a "male skincare" product in this thread.

The only male skin in my house is on the hamster.

OhSweetNuthin · 30/09/2020 21:30

I use the app, don't have premium and don't get any ads at all.

I used to, always for Pampers.

Coffeeandaride · 30/09/2020 21:38

I have adverts for candy crush and intel core processor “predator triton 300” - I don’t know what this is.

I know what candy crush is tho Blush

AlexTheLittleCat · 30/09/2020 21:47

I have the cookies switched off and get ads for absolutely hideous boots and dresses that no one would surely ever buy or wear. And a hilarious ad about bad posture, I'm wishing I'd taken a screenshot now.
