Parking outside house

Prepared to be flamed for this Grin. We live in a terraced house so everyone parks on the street outside their houses. Most of the time people seem to park outside their own house. Also most of us only seem to have one car so it works well. There is also a side street that we can park in so if someone is parked outside our house we just park there. I might moan occasionally but I know I have no right to actually always park outside my house.

Anyway new family have moved in across the road they have at least 3 cars between them. They constantly park outside others houses...I know they can. However they have obviously now gone away somewhere and parked outside 3 different peoples houses including ours. It's been a week and I haven't been able to park my car even close to my house. I have young DC and have to cross a road one by one with them sometimes.

So AIBU to say it is really inconsiderate to have gone away with your 3 cars parked outside others houses?

YABU.

However, if it's getting difficult to park, you could raise the issue of permit parking with your local council. This usually means that people have to pay to have an annual permit and only 2 per house are allowed.

“ we just smile, wave and call them bastards when we get inside”

Excellent idea, must try it!

Id never buy a house without its own driveway...id rather sacrifice size of garden or a bedroom...i couldnt face coming home after a long day at work and having to try and find a space close to where i live.

YABU OP and you know it.

We live a 15 minute walk away from a training place and our roads one of the ones with no permits so it gets packed my bf hates it and watches people park then fuck off up the road and out of view while moaning. I have to remind him we dont own the road and they can park wherever they like.

Though in theory they are doing nothing wrong, it’s very irritating and unneighbourly. Excessive car ownership like this is madness. There’s not many other situations where people would feel entitled to dump 2 tonnes of personal belongings in a public space, and expect others to subsidise the cost or give up their little share of the space.

@Whammyyammy

YABVU as its a public road, not owned by you and free for anyone to park on, not just residents in your street .

My brother used to park in a residential street when he was at college , one person would always moan or leave messages, but being 6 '4" and well built, he just laughed.

As it seemed to be the same person moaning, my brother tried to park outside his house each time, it was a game for him.

After 2 years , he graduated and his old car was on its last legs so he sent the registration document off to change ownership to a random name at a hostel miles away, then just abandoned his car outside the moaners house and binned the key it was there for 8 months until it got removed.

Its not your road , be careful they don't target you.

You're brother sounds like a twat.

Sorry, YOUR brother sounds like a twat Smile

I would say it's very selfish to live on a road with terraced houses and no driveway if you own 3 vehicles. So, on the whole, after a bit of fence-sitting, I'd say yanbu.
