Accidentally burned myself - help

Posting for traffic, sorry!

I did a stupid thing. Was blow drying my hair and left my hair dryer on (with nozzle on) on my dressing table as I was sectioning my hair etc. The angle it laid at meant that it was blasting on my stomach for around 10 minutes in total (on/off) and I now have a large red patch in the area. It’s been an hour and my skin is still red.

It doesn’t hurt but I’m worried about it leaving a mark as I’m prone to post inflammatory hyperpigmentation! Just wanted any advice on how to soothe it and essentially control the damageBlush

Run the cool shower on it for ten minutes, then see how it is. If not blistering you could put an ointment or gel like aloe vera. If it's blistering, seek medical advice by phoning NHS 111.

Witch hazel, it stings like crazy but works for bringing down the inflammation.

Casmama · 26/09/2020 00:28

If it didn't hurt at the time I very much doubt it's done any serious damage. Agree with advice to run area under a cold shower

VaggieMight · 26/09/2020 00:31

Might be difficult to stay under cold water for very long. I'd wrap a pack of ice or frozen peas in a tea towel and keep it as cool as possible for a bit.

MrsEricBana · 26/09/2020 00:32

Or ice wrapped on a cloth on it?

MrsEricBana · 26/09/2020 00:33

Cross post! Yes this.

Thank you all! I have currently got a makeshift ice pack on it. You wouldn’t think something as silly like this would so damage but I have sensitive skinBlush
