4 year old overly clingy with friendships

Posting here for traffic Looking for advice / recommendations. 4 year old DD is very clingy when it comes to friendships. In any setting she instantly zeroes in on one friend and decides they are her best friend even if they aren't really that interested and sometimes not even that kind to her. Tried multiple ways of encouraging her to speak to or play with other children but it doesn't seem to get through. I feel heartbroken for her but I'm out of ideas of how to teach her how to make friends or how to not get so obsessed with one person. I'm also wondering about an attachment disorder? Any book ideas or advice would be most welcome

I do not think she has any sort of disorder. She is learning how to deal with relationships - she is just very new to this challenge. She will acquire the necessary skills in time. Although relationship skills are something that need a lifetime to perfect!

Do not be heartbroken for her - you cannot take to heart all that life throws at her. One day she will be crossed in love and you will just need to be strong and not heartbroken yourself.

I know it is hard as we all want the best for our children; but they have to gradually learn the skills to deal with other people. Give her time and just be there for her.
