Too not want my DH to go into London just to have a drink with colleagues?

Just that really!
His worked from home since March. But is going into London, by train just to go to the pub.
I think it's an unnecessary risk. His not in the best of health, doesn't look after himself and his almost 50.
I couldn't think of anything worse at the moment. Not been to a pub once since March and not missed it.

I would steer clear of pubs now, especially given that the football season has begun and games are now earlier. Even in Munich last week with 100% wearing face coverings on public transport, I avoided bars.

@mumcop

Of course he can make his own decision Hmm
Your username does suggest you like to be in control.....

I think it's a great idea, our team cannot all be in at once and it definitely has made a difference not being able to see everyone. It doesn't sound like he is going it everyday, so why not

Pachonga · 24/09/2020 13:16

I understand your anxiety about this, OP. I personally would not be socialising indoors at the moment. However, if he has been going to the local pub and mixing with people there, there’s really not that much difference here. The journey will be fine, as others have said, trains and tubes are really quiet.

I suspect most pubs are now safer than ever as you must be served at a table and wear a mask while standing.

I feel for you .My DH is nearer 60 and still insists on going out with his friend once a month to a busy Weatherspoons! Said friend has health issues as well .Just given up now WTF!

I’d see it as unnecessary risk and rather that he didn’t.

@cornettoninja
The Crown Jewels have been open for a couple of months. It's a great time to go now it's not swamped with tourists.

Cornettoninja · 24/09/2020 17:13

Thanks @katy1213 Smile. I know they’re open but I’m not comfortable enough with the train/tube journey we’d have to make at the moment. I should have done it over the summer when the numbers were lower..

BIWI · 24/09/2020 18:18

@Cornettoninja the tube and trains are pretty empty right now. You can easily be socially distanced on them.

Pachonga · 24/09/2020 20:00

Why is he even entertaining this if he knows how much it bothers you?

BIWI · 24/09/2020 20:14

a) because he might want to go out for a drink with his colleagues, after 6 months of WFH
b) she is being a bit unreasonable

Hmm
ZaraW · 24/09/2020 20:18

@Pachonga

Why is he even entertaining this if he knows how much it bothers you?
Because he really isn't doing anything unreasonable.
Grendalsmum · 24/09/2020 20:21

I didn't go and see the Beardsley exhibition because l was worried about the train but l wish l'd gone now ... Just because you wouldn't doesn't mean he shouldn't.
