Are these lights too bright?

Name changed for this obviously, these 2 lights are new and are not on a sensor, on constantly. Photo taken from the bedroom at the back of our house.

I think they should atleast be angled down! We’re in a suburban area and the building with the lights is apartments - making it harder to ask the neighbour to change the angle.

Are they too bright/angled inconsideratly enough for us to complain to the council?

Our black out curtains do a pretty good job at blocking them out but they’re just so bright whenever we look outside at night.

Are these lights too bright?

It’s difficult to tell by a photo but by the way they’re lighting everything up I’d say yes.

Our neighbours have installed incredibly bright white lights (they literally light up the sky) so you have my sympathy. We’re at a different angle to them so they only shine in my bathroom window (enough for me to never have to put the light on when I go for 2am wee) but I feel really sorry for the neighbours behind me who must have it full blast.

In your case I would have a polite word with the neighbour.

That’s like Blackpool bloody Illuminations!

pumpkinpie01 · 22/09/2020 22:37

Way too bright !

mineofuselessinformation · 22/09/2020 22:38

Yes, those look really bright.
I had to ask a neighbour in a previous house if they would mind turning their security light downwards a bit, as when I sat on the loo (upstairs) I felt like a contestant in Masternind (they understood and did)!

LittleBearPad · 22/09/2020 22:39

Yes they are

OMG yes! 😂

catnoir1 · 22/09/2020 22:48

That's far too bright

You've got two threads running on this OP.
You might want to consider getting one of them removed...

LightsS0bright · 23/09/2020 07:36

@mineofuselessinformation did you neighbour change them? And thanks! I’ve asked mnhq to remove one of them.

I’ve done some detective work and the building is ran by a housing association. We’ve sent an email but feel like it’ll take them ages to act. Maybe I need to get the other neighbours to email them aswell.

It must be annoying too for the people who live in the building.

When I woke up this morning I didn’t know if it was morning or not because they were still shining just the same

Looks like a ufo 🛸 👽 landing

LightsS0bright · 23/09/2020 07:49

@oreshina maybe if aliens come they’ll take out the lights... Blow their cover 😂

Why not just speak to the neighbour directly? Even if the housing association installed them (which they may not have) then it still makes sense to ask and to keep the neighbour informed.

kayakingmum · 23/09/2020 19:50

Have you checked the planning permission? There is usually a condition attached which controls the position of the lights, angle and brightness.
If they are in breach the council can take enforcement action.
