HPV vaccination special needs

Posted this on the special needs boards a couple of weeks back but got no responses, so trying here. My DS school is doing HPV vaccinations. Are these something that would be necessary for a special needs child who is never going to be sexually active. From what I know about the HPV virus (not much) it seems to only be transmitted through sexual contact, is this correct?

Can you absolutely guarantee that the child will never be sexually active? Even if there was the slightest chance I think the vaccine is worthwhile and it needs to be given before any sexual contact.

My SEN child will have hers soon. I'm just hoping she manages to have it without having an epic meltdown and it not being able to be done.

I’m not a Medical expert but I think the main risk of getting HPV and cervical cancer is through sexual intercourse.

However, I think risks of getting it could be higher if others in the family have had cervical cancer.

It might not be a popular choice but in your situation it won’t benefit your child and may distress him a lot. It would only be to prevent future sexual partners of his, which if you believe he won’t be likely to have- reduces the need to agree to it at this stage. So in your shoes I would refuse them

My son will never be sexually active absolutely guaranteed so i wouldn’t make him get it. He’d have to be restrained for it anyway as there’s no way on earth he’d let anyone do it and that’s not in his best interests. Personally no, I wouldn’t consent.

Thank you, he definitely won't ever be sexually active, unless he is ever abused (God forbid, but it's not like it's never happened at care homes). I have read it's also for males protection as apparently it can cause some male-related cancers as well.
