Center Parcs Swimming

After 6 miserable months of shielding we are taking our lovely 3 year old to CP next week 🤞

Due to COVID CP have changed their rules to say that people can only swim twice during their stay for up to 2 hours. I do understand this but I do think it takes the p**s rather that they are offering no reduction in fee and no alternative activity. Everyone knows that swimming is included in the price of the booking unlike all other activities you have to pay for on booking or arrival. I should think a lot of families spend large parts of the day in the swimming pool!

Our son has complex needs including physical disabilities and visual/hearing impairment. He can swim because there is a changing bench and hoist but there is very little else he can access! He can’t ride a bike, eat, play in a playground or soft play etc. I suspect I am BU whinging I just feel that CP must know people are desperate to get away so likely to pay up and shut up although it isn’t terribly fair!

The swimming is why we cancelled. Just nit worth it imo.

Thanks everyone for the advice and for listening. I am going to take a paddling pool which I will put up in the wet room for of the weather is bad 😂

We are going to go next week as we all really need the break but we are also booked in for December and will cancel that one and just have some time at home together.

I have had a really good look around online this evening and we are going to go to The Calvert Trust next year instead. Our son will be able to access a lot of different activities there 😊

2020 really has been pants all round! Here’s hoping that 2021 is better 😊

I’ve been going to Centreparcs for years. I wouldn’t go now because the pool is what we go for and not worth only going for 4 hours. Get your money back and book a holiday home with a hot tub somewhere!

Would he like the cycle trailers? .. my kids loved being trailed around the woodland and going up and down the hills in the trailer. Horse and carriage rides?

SFCA · 21/09/2020 22:12

@43abc thank you for the suggestions. I don’t know if he would be able to sit up enough for a trailer, he also has lots of seizures which might be missed if he was behind me. I might ask if I can try and sit him in one though and see if he could manage it as I am sure he will would love it!

The horse and carriage is a good idea as I could have held him on my lap but they don’t seem to do them in Woburn?

I’m appalled how you’ve been treated by CP. I hope once you get there in person you may find on site staff are more accommodating. I would escape to head office as well.

I hope despite everything you have a lovely time OP XX

OP if you're going to Woburn then Flitwick leisure centre is just round the corner. I know it stings to pay extra when you've already paid for the CP pool but it might be worth a visit. It's a lovely new centre too.

We went for a weekend a month ago and we had a brilliant time. I was worried that we would need longer in the pool but it was plenty of time to be honest. It was really well done and there were hardly any queues for anything which made it much more enjoyable. It was a fantastic weekend and I'd really recommend going

Op the trailers are large enough to take 2 small kids I used them until age 6. They have a two full safety harnesses and you can get safety helmets. They can be left open so you can see your son. They also have a storage area for anything he may need. We always get them at they very start of our holiday it’s a good way to get around the park. I hope you can find other activities to suit your family. What a shame Center parcs havent helped you. I’m sure you’ll have a great time , we love Center parcs.

Calvert Trust is absolutely wonderful OP.

Loads to do onsite, beautiful setting, warm pool and lots to do locally.

Enjoy!
