To ask what you do all day if you’ve lost your job and kids are in school?

I lost my job in March, my children went back to school a couple of weeks ago. Everyday is like ground hog day. Drop them off at school, do a bit of tidying, laundry etc. Take dog for walk. Eat biscuits, pick up at school, think about what to cook for tea, drink wine.

I choose not to go anywhere- not because I’m scared of catching Covid but because people just annoy me and nothing is enjoyable.

The worst thing is I do have hobbies and interests yet have no motivation to do anything.

Anyone got any words of wisdom, how can I get out of this rut?

@winterfruit was there any need for that?

I’m in the same position and it’s soul destroying. I have interviews this week so hoping it will change soon.
I go for a run every morning. Plan lunch, plan dinner.

Other than that, nothing and it’s awful. Depressing and boring.

My dh is in this position. I am working part time, but he is very much the breadwinner. He has been looking for a job since March
There are loads of jobs that need to be done.

I'm furloughed, so I'm just as bored but without the job-hunting. So, as well as hunting for another job and sending off applications and stuff - get yourself on LinkedIn - I:

I train for a competition sport so, that's freed me up to do that more.
I read.
I sell vintage books. I buy in bulk from auction houses if I spot a valuable title in the box, then photograph, research and resell. Feels like running a little business. So you too could find something small that you could easily resell for a bit of profit.

But mostly - do online courses or things that will upskill you for a new job. Plenty of companies have been unaffected by Covid, so you want to try applying and getting in there before the rush.

I feel the same as you, it’s draining but I am actually enjoying being at home.
I mainly just keep on top of cleaning and washing. I’ve started going to the gym twice a week as I could feel the pounds creeping on and I can’t afford to spend money on bigger clothes. I’ve met up with some friends who are in the same boat that I don’t get to see often so that’s been nice. Long dog walks each morning then home for Netflix Blush have become routine. Almost time for Christmas shopping!
