Is it just me? Little things you find oddly satisfying

DH thinks I'm weird for this.

Is it just me though who is oddly satisfied by the lines that get left in your skin after sleep or being still for a while? I've had some really cool ones after a particularly still night's sleep, like the imprint of my foot or hand on my leg for example. I find it oddly fascinating for some reason and always show him!

Or sometimes, a particular pattern or wording on my clothing getting imprinted etc... 🤷‍♀️

Opening a new jar of Nutella - that smooth surface before you plunge the knife in.

That very very rare occasion when you finish your shampoo and conditioner bottles at the same time.

dudsville · 20/09/2020 08:46

I like using a pen to the end of the ink. I carry a spare around for ages so that I'm ready when it finally reaches its end. I get the same pleasure from using up toiletries to the last drop.

Digging out bindweed roots. Popping bubble-wrap.

dentydown · 20/09/2020 08:51

Squeezing a spot/blackhead.

Washing up so there are no stragglers and then shiny sink.

Kneeding risen dough

Feeding snails iceberg lettuce.

Oilyoilyoilgob · 20/09/2020 09:00

Popping a spot

Parking at home by the side of the garage and the car door opening just enough so it doesn’t scrape the wall

Picking out the fur from the brush after I’ve brushed the cats

Watching a hedgehog unroll and eat the cat food I’ve left near it 😍

Cups coming up white after I’ve bleached my extra strong tea stains off

Stamping a fresh toilet duck disc on the toilet 😄

I have loads, I could keep going. Think it’s good for us to notice the little things

Soundbyte · 20/09/2020 09:01

Digging out bindweed roots Yes!

Putting away the grocery shop. The full fridge and cupboards fill me with a warm fuzzy contented feeling, idk why though Confused

remainin · 20/09/2020 09:04

Building and lighting a fire in a fireplace.

remainin · 20/09/2020 09:05

Watching snow fall.

EmbarrassedUser · 20/09/2020 09:07

When you forget to pick your nose all day and then get a ginormous bogie at the end of the day. Plus a loud meaty fart (generally KFC helps) There’s a theme of grossness here 🤣

dotty12345 · 20/09/2020 09:08

I too love pegging washing out and nose strips, I run my finger over what's come out which I know is disgusting! Refilling kilner jars, particularly the ones I use for washing powder. Organising my craft stuff (alas it rarely stays organised for long)

Balaur · 20/09/2020 09:10

I have a really strong memory as a child in school of finding the way other people's shoe heels lined up against the ground very satisfying!? Also at the same time, I would look at the way boys hair was cut so short and neat on the nape of their neck and find that oddly satisfying too. Odd child.

Gobbycop · 20/09/2020 09:14

I'm up in Aberdeenshire where there's plenty of wind turbines.

There are 4 near work in a line and I can't tell you the level of satisfaction I get when the blades of all 4 are perfectly synchronised.
It may take a while and they might only be in synch for a few revolutions.

It's quite something 😂

Yes!!! Exactly this! As I get older, the more I look like Bagpuss first thing in the morning! I occasionally think I could with ironing my face first thing in the morning 😂
OddlyWod · 20/09/2020 09:22

@WhatInFreshHell I love it.

Here is my foot from the other day 😂 don't ask how I slept with my foot above my knee for most of the night.

Also, YY to blackheads, or spots of any kind really. Soooooooo satisfying.

Squeezing blackheads - the bigger the better
De waxing ears. Plenty of videos on YouTube. I honestly wish mine were more waxy.
Pulling grey hairs out although they're not rare anymore so it's not as good.
Weeding when the entire root comes up easily
Opening a brand new book
When all the plates from a meal can go straight in the dishwasher with no scraping
Picking line scale off the rubber bit of the shower head
Using a mini hoover to go around the edges when lots of dust has built up
Using a plunger successfully in the sink - hearing the gurgle and feeling the pressure then it starts running quickly
Turning the shower to really cold for a few seconds
De scaling the kettle (it's a glass one which easily looks all scaly and then when it's de scaled it looks new)
Getting out splinters

Queenoftheashes · 20/09/2020 09:33

Cutting paper or card with scissors

seayork2020 · 20/09/2020 09:35

I love the pore strip and my husband loves the new jar coffee opening

lotusbell · 20/09/2020 09:35

Anyone who enjoys inspecting blackheads, pore strips, anything solid from a pore, or scabs etc, invest in a jeweller's loupe.

lotusbell · 20/09/2020 09:36

In fact, just get one and 'enjoy' looking at anything under it!

CoronaIsWatching · 20/09/2020 09:38

Some of these are disgusting

OddlyWod · 20/09/2020 09:42

My friend recommended one of these I think! Is it like a little hoop?

Also combing nits out of kids hair brushing maggots out of sheep's wool is grim but similarly satisfying

Lex345 · 20/09/2020 09:54

Empty washing baskets, empty washing machine, no washing drying in the house and the bedding/towels are fresh. Happened once in 14 years Grin

When all the food shopping is put away tidily

Pre prepping veg, blanching and freezing.

When you hit that sweet spot with the perfect cup of coffee.

Pelleas · 20/09/2020 10:01

I love the sound the washing machine makes while it's on - it's cosy and says 'all is well'.
