Or not due to risk of covid?

OP posts:
PastelPompoms · 19/09/2020 22:07

No I don’t, but then I haven’t done for years. If I have to I will do it through my dress, coat, bag etc. Very skilled at it now Wink

Remmy123 · 19/09/2020 22:11

I touch everything .. my face, lifts etc

SoManyActivities · 19/09/2020 22:14

I thought they had decided that you don't generally catch from surfaces now? It's close contact with an infected person isn't it?

Spidey66 · 19/09/2020 22:16

Still touching. I’m with the ‘life’s full of risks’ brigade. As a nod to Covid I do use hand sanitizer more, but as this dries my hands a lot, it’s not without risk itself.

Emeraldshamrock · 19/09/2020 22:19

No I never liked touching rails.

Gingerkittykat · 19/09/2020 22:24

Yes, because my balance is rubbish and I don't want to fall over.

Joeblack066 · 19/09/2020 22:28

@zoemum2006

Covid is an airborne virus. Although it does live on surfaces, it doesn’t seem to be infecting people that way.

I’m not particularly worried about touching things.

Um, isn’t this the exact opposite of the reality? It’s spread by respiratory droplets if someone sneezes on you but it’s not floating round in the air. It’s much more likely to be in a surface where someone has coughed into their hand then put than hand on a stair rail. So wash your hands. Simple.
Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 19/09/2020 22:30

Yes when I have to but I wash my hands regularly, sanitise when I can't and don't touch my face.

zoemum2006 · 19/09/2020 22:40

@Joeblack066

No, the CDC said in May that it possible but very unlikely to catch the virus via surfaces.

Although it's good to wash your hands it's not nearly as important as wearing a mask and social distancing.

polkadotpixie · 19/09/2020 22:42

As little as possible but due to my fear of Norovirus, not COVID. I almost had a COVID-related breakdown in March but I'm the total opposite now

Elzbells · 19/09/2020 22:44

I'm not changing anything from before Covid. I wash my hands after using the toilet and before eating.

I've worked throughout the lockdown.

Haven't had it (although suspect I was exposed UK it right back in March)

CoronaBollox · 19/09/2020 22:46

A bad habit I cant seem to shake. Touching everything, then my face, hair etc. I wash my hands like I've always done, when returning home, before cooking and after the toilet.

PinkBuffalo · 19/09/2020 22:47

@Itsabeautifuldayheyhey

I make a point of not holding onto the handrail of escalators in supermarkets or using buttons on pedestrian crossings. I sanitise after using the door handle In the building society and use the disinfectant provided to clean the trolley or basket handles.
I have wondered why I keep coming across people at pedestrian crossings who have not pushed the button to cross! I wonder how long they have been there until I come along, push the button, green man appears short time Later and then we all cross This has happened a lot in the last few weeks now I Think I understand why
CSIblonde · 19/09/2020 23:04

No. The Tube carriage grab rails, escalator handrails, & rails up steps to supermarket are always sticky ,which makes my hair stand on end even before Covid.

CandyflossKid · 19/09/2020 23:18

I didnt touch handrails, surfaces etc before Covid so definitely don't touch them now

laidbacklife · 19/09/2020 23:38

Yes, I have been, I am, and I’m still alive. Shock horror.

AllAussieAdventures · 19/09/2020 23:44

I just don't worry about it. Never have.

I wash my hands frequently and use hand sanitizer when it is available.

Can't remember the last time either I or my immediate family were sick. So either the risk is very low, we are robust or extremely lucky. Doesn't matter which. I am not expending headspace on it.

siennateddy · 19/09/2020 23:57

I avoid touching things where possible, but that's more about germs/ickiness in general and I've always done it. I'm not particularly worried about getting Covid, I'm low risk. I have to hold the handrail on the tube when taking my pushchair on the escalator, but otherwise I'm pretty good at using my elbow or sleeve to touch things, using feet/shoulder to push a door open etc. I wash hands when I get home and before eating, but I don't use sanitiser that often, it leaves my hands sticky and I have to carry the pushchair up stairs so not risking it.

DipSwimSwoosh · 20/09/2020 00:14

Yep. I am not scared of Covid. I don't want to pass it on but I am not worried for me.

RoseMartha · 20/09/2020 00:16

I dont touch handrails etc if I can help it, but then I never have so not a new thing for me not to do this.

Pachonga · 20/09/2020 00:16

Washing hands etc is just good hygiene but there isn’t enough of the virus on surfaces to catch it like that according to up-to-date thinking. Worry less about surfaces and more about contact with othet humans

PickAChew · 20/09/2020 00:18

Going down stairs, yes. I have terrible knees. No problem going uo stairs, though.

If I caught a bus and used the rails to get up the stairs and to my seat (because you can guarantee the driver would be off like a rocket as soon as I'd paid), I'd sanitise my hands as soon as I sat down.

Pobblebonk · 20/09/2020 00:29

Yes, I have to. But I just make sure I don't touch my face until I've used hand sanitiser.

TheDuchessofMalfy · 20/09/2020 01:21

My knees aren’t always brilliant, so I sometimes have to.

Ponoka7 · 20/09/2020 01:30

Yes, because like others my balance isn't great. I worked in social care and got out of the habit of not touching my face and washing my hands regularly.
