An AIBU totally happy to be told I am taking this to heart but a family member has put a post up wishing r 2 year old a happy birthday. Okay fine, but the post starts 'wishing our very loud but gorgeous xxxxx a happy birthday' .... bigger things to worry about but feel this is quite harsh! No louder than a normal two year old, but feel it's a quite a passive aggressive post! Friday morning grumble!

I know where you’re coming from OP I have a relative like this

AtrociousCircumstance · 18/09/2020 10:50

Yeah there was no need to include a criticism in a birthday message to a two year old. YANBU.

Reply “And our DC thanks their very blunt and clumsy but (I guess) well meaning Auntie!” or whoever it is. With lots of 😊😊😊😘😘😘

Were they being loud last time this person saw them? (Not necessarily the whole time; even if they just had a random moment of shouting or getting upset or something)
If I read that I'd assume it was an in-joke about a time when you're child was being loud.

I wouldn't be offended by it.

Really? Confused who cares.

1st world problems

I think it was a nobheaded thing to say op, but try to give them the benefit of the doubt. I’ve put my foot in my mouth so many times just trying to be funny that I’ve almost given up joking.

PPs are also making good points though. At age 2 though it’s easy to see your child as the centre of the world and also an extension of you and think that every dumbass comment is an insult to them and a reflection on your parenting. It’s not. All kids are loud sometimes and a lot of grown ups are really unrealistic about how toddlers behave.

Bloody hell you would hate me then, I call my niece "feral"!!! Her mother agrees with me Smile

You are being unreasonable for giving this headspace.

You're also being unreasonable for using 'r' instead of 'our'.
